ONE SHOT! All human. I wanted to release a few tensions from the exam. I decided to write a little one shot. It's tiny. Don't expect me to write another story till after Oct 17. I'm already breaking the rules.
Carlisle Cullen entered his home office with his hot cup of cocoa and sat down on his armchair. He smiled to himself as he saw the gorgeous view out the window. It was in the middle of winter. Snowflakes were falling slowly from the sky and onto the snow-covered ground. He could hear the faint noises of his neighbour's kids having a snowball fight. He could also hear the birds chirping and the wind singing.
He had a long day in the hospital. He had to work night shifts for three nights in a row and this was his only time to relax.
Taking a sip from his cup, he leaned back and sighed. The women of the house were away shopping in Port Angeles for Angela's surprise bachelorette party. His sons', on the other hand were watching the baseball match in the living room while they babysat little Nessie. He was alone upstairs and there was nothing but silence.
Overall, it was a perfect day.
His hand instinctively went to the small table that usually held today's newspaper but found nothing but space. Turning his head for confirmation, there was nothing on the table. He cursed under his breath. How could I forget today's newspaper? He unwillingly stood up, ran downstairs and stopped a few steps.
His perfect day had to wait.
"Could one of you please go down to the store and fetch me today's newspaper?" He shouted from the foot of the stairs.
"I'm busy!" Jasper shouted back.
"Not me!" Edward yelled.
"Aw, dad! He just hit a homer—" Emmett groaned.
"I don't care! One of you better get me today's newspaper or I swear to God," Carlisle threatened. He was close to losing it.
"Alright, fine! Rock, papers, scissors." He heard Emmett say. A few second later, "You lose. You go." followed.
Pleased, Carlisle took out his wallet and searched for a five dollar bill. "While you're on it, do you think you could buy me a ch—" He took out the five dollar bill and lifted his head just in time to see eleven-month-old Nessie crawl out of the living room with the keys to Emmett's jeep in her tiny hands.
