The Dom: Yeah!

Father Chapa: Finally.

AssassinK: And I thought I take a long time to write chapters.

In the small town of Little Oak, two youths were waiting for what could be the biggest moment in their lives. Justin, a young adult with a somewhat large build and of average height, was sitting with his parents by the television in a pair of shorts and a light blue shirt, waiting for the announcement. His dark blond hair was disheveled from lack of sleep the previous night.

"I'm hoping you win this one. Wouldn't want to have to cancel the send-away gift I have for you. Plus this would be a great way to hone your Aura." Justin's father said.

"We'll just have to see if he wins," his mother said.

A knock on the door. Justin got up to get it. He opened the door and saw his old friend Billy. Billy was a few years younger than Justin with black hair and brown eyes and wearing a red shirt and jeans, but their love of Pokémon battles had united them.

"Hey Justin! Ready to see who gets in?"

"'ello Billy! Good to see ya! Come on in!" Justin said.

They sat on the couch in front of the television.

Messages will be going out in about thirty seconds to winners. To those of us from the PokéNews Network, we wish you the best of luck!

Thirty seconds later, two Pokégears rang.

Billy and Justin looked at each other, grinning heavily.

Meanwhile in Palma, a father was congratulating his son. "Now Ryan, I would like to see you go on this journey with all of these new trainers. Make some friends. Learn their battle styles. And when you return home to face me in battle, hold nothing back!"

"Alright Dad!" Ryan said to his father. "I'll do my best." Ryan was fairly tall with a somewhat bulky frame. His hair was blonde and spiky. He wore a dark red work out shirt and gold gym shorts.

"And before you go, a present." He held out a bag.

Ryan took the bag. Inside were an occupied Pokéball, five empty Pokéballs, some potions, vouchers, and a Pokédex.

"And yes, yes it is," Ryan's father said.

"You're the best!" Ryan said as he hugged his father.

A young man named Keshin stood on the dock with his parents, waiting to board his ship to Palma. He was on the short side of height but that just made him faster. His hair was short and a midnight black. His eyes were a piercing hazel. He was wearing an outfit that his grandfather wore when he began his journey. As a resident of the hidden shinobi town of Konoha, Keshin wore the garbs of a traveling young ninja. His pants wear dark blue and had a pouch attached to the right leg. He wore a black shirt with short sleeves under a dark vest that was tailor made to give the greatest protection it could without sacrificing speed. Over his shoulder was a traveling bag that kept his essentials.

"Take care of yourself out there son," Keshin's father said.

"Grow strong and be safe!" Keshin's mother said.

"Don't worry!" Keshin said. "I'll be fine! Before you know it, I'll be one of the strongest trainers out there!"

"That's our boy! Now get on! And give them a battle like no other!"

They shared one more hug, then Keshin turned toward the gangplank and boarded.

"Welcome, trainers, to the Palma region!" the event speaker, Professor Pine said. "Now I'll make this brief because I know you all want to begin on your journeys! There are ten gym leaders in the Palma Region! Your pamphlets should give you descriptions about them! Defeat them all within six months and you will be able to compete in the Ursa Tournament at the Regional Pokémon League! Each of you should have received a supply bag, containing money, vouchers, and most importantly, a PokéPass! This voucher will be the key to receiving your first Pokemon from one of the seven of us professors! Now get on out there, grow strong, and learn from your travels! Good luck!"

"Well that was fast," Billy said. He now wore a white shirt with a red vest over it. He also wore jeans and a hat with the Pokémon symbol on it.

"All the better, that way you can receive your first Pokemon sooner," Justin replied now wearing a blue shirt, brown pants and an opened blue jacket. "Speaking of which, who should we see first?"

"I'm thinking Professor Oak. I hear he's an incredible Pokemon trainer, he was even Kanto's Champion at one point! I'm sure he has some great Pokemon waiting for us!"

"I'm considering seeing Professor Sycamore myself. I've heard his Pokemon have a good variety of types. Good place to get my second Pokemon it sounds like."

"Shall we split off and see what they have to offer? After that we can meet up at the Bazaar and buy some supplies and discuss our strategy."

"Alright, that sounds good!" So they set off towards the houses that each of the professors they were seeking were stationed.

"I guess I should give my Pokemon some time to walk." Justin pulled a Pokeball off of his belt. "Come on out! He sent out the Pokemon.

"Rio!" his Pokemon, a Riolu, cried.

"Alright, let's head over to Professor Sycamore!" Justin said.

When they arrived, they were greeted by a tall, blonde trainer with spiky hair. He wore a black jacket with gold trim over a purple shirt. His pants were black with a purple design on the lower legs. On his hands were a pair of black fingerless gloves.

"You have a Pokemon already? I guess I'm not the only one. Where you headed?" he asked.

"Professor Sycamore," Justin answered. "Hear he's got a good variety."

"That's where I'm headed actually!" the trainer responded. "The name's Ryan, and I challenge you to a Pokemon battle before either of us head over there!" Ryan pulled a Pokeball off of his belt.

"The name's Justin, and I accept your challenge! Get on out there Riolu!"

"Looks like I've already won this battle. Go Honedge!" Ryan sent out his Pokemon. "Honedge is a ghost-type, and I've heard from my father that a Riolu at that level doesn't have any moves that can hit ghosts."

"Well that's a shame. I guess I'll just have to-Riolu! Use Foresight!"

Riolu's eyes began to glow, allowing it to focus its vision on Honedge's location.

"Smart move, but let's see if you can take the heat after I use Swords Dance!"

Honedge's blade began to glow, as if it was growing stronger.

"Well that makes things interesting. Riolu! Vacuum Wave!"

"Honedge! Tackle!"

Riolu leapt at Honedge and fired a blue wave of energy from its hands, striking Honedge rather hard. Honedge countered with Tackle, hitting equally hard.

"It seems I underestimated you," Ryan said. "You're not half bad. Now let's end this battle! Tackle!"

"Vacuum Wave!"

Riolu was quick to take down Honedge with another Vacuum Wave.

"Excellent work," Ryan said.

"We did it!" Justin said as he high-fived his Riolu.

"Now here I have three Pokemon: Treecko, Torchic, and Mudkip," Professor Birch began his lecture. "Treecko is a grass-type, and eventually evolves into Sceptile, which is incredibly fast and with high Special Attack. Torchic is a fire-type, and eventually evolves into Blaziken, which is rather strong in both physical and special attack. And finally we have Mudkip, a water-type that evolves into Swampert, which is bulky, yet powerful. Now I hope you can all find the starter that is perfect for you."

Keshin had. He sought a Pokemon that could keep up with his speed and agility with ease, and Treecko looked like just the one to do it. He got up and got in line by Professor Birch's desk.

"Hello young trainer! What's your name?" Professor Birch asked.

"Keshin, and I've decided on Treecko."

"Ah, quite the decisive one? Always a good quality. Here you go! Good luck on your journey! Let's hope you grow powerful along with it!" he handed Keshin a Pokeball.

"Thanks! I'll be sure to take good care of it!" Keshin took the Pokeball.

"Ah, hello there young trainer!" Professor Oak said. "That look in your eyes is quite intriguing! It shows promise of a powerful trainer! What's your name?"

"Billy, and I…erm…haven't quite decided yet."

"That's perfectly alright! That's what I'm here for! Now then. Bulbasaur seems to be a calm Pokemon, yet its evolution, Venusaur, is both powerful and bulky, a good balance. Charmander has a lot of competitive spirit, and evolves into Charizard, which is both fast and incredibly powerful! I'd say it suits you rather well. I can tell by that look in your eyes! And finally we have Squirtle, which is rather quirky, yet it evolves into the bulky Blastoise."

"Hmm…I think I'll go with Charmander then. You said it yourself, it's the best one for me."

"Indeed!" he handed Billy a Pokeball. "Take good care of it. It's tough to raise, but put in the effort and it will certainly bear fruit."

"Thanks! I won't disappoint you! I'll see you at the Ursa Tournament!"

"That's the spirit! Good luck!"

"Ah, you two! I saw your battle out there. Pretty good for two beginning trainers, and I think I know just the Pokemon for each of you!" Professor Sycamore spoke as he greeted Justin and Ryan.

"Ah, that sounds great!" Justin responded.

"Tres bien! Now each of my Pokemon here seems to be fitted towards the classic RPG-type classes. The warrior, the mage, and the assassin. Chespin is the warrior-type, and I believe it would suit you best, Ryan." He handed Ryan a Pokeball. "And you, Justin, the mage Fennekin should suit you best!" He handed Justin a Pokeball.

"Alright, thanks!" they said in unison.

They exited the house.

"Say, I'm meeting up with my friend Billy and we're gonna discuss strategies for taking on the Palma region. Wanna join us?"

"Sounds great! I'm a local so I should be able to help you out!"

"Ah, that should give us an edge, then! Let's head to the Bazaar then!"

Keshin was running towards the Bazaar when he turned a corner and bumped into someone.

"Oof! Sorry about that!" Keshin said.

"No worries, I'm sure we're all pretty eager to get on out there!" Billy responded. "Get your Pokemon yet?"

"Yeah, I got Treecko!" Keshin answered. "You?"

"Charmander. Headed toward the Bazaar?"

"Yeah, I know just the items to buy to take care of myself out there."

"Sounds good, mind helping me and my friend out?"

"No problem! We all gotta help each other out there!"

"Alright then! Let's head over!"

Justin spotted Billy approaching the Bazaar with another trainer.

"Ah, there you are! This is Ryan, a local beginning trainer," Justin began. "He'll be joining us if that's alright."

"Ah, nice to meet you!" Billy said as they shook hands. "The name's Billy, and this is Keshin, another beginning trainer, who will also be joining us if that's alright."

"The more the merrier," Justin said. "Pleasure to meet you."

"Now then, we should discuss strategy," Ryan said pulling out his voucher.

"Agreed, should we head for the closest gym leader?" Billy looked at the voucher. "The nearest one's Magumaken in Vulcan Town." He pointed out a tall gym leader with blonde spiky hair ending in red tips.

"Nah," Ryan said. "Let's save him for last. He's the strongest gym leader here! Might I suggest going west along the coast? We'll reach Galeax Town. The gym leader there isn't that powerful. I wouldn't go southeast either. First gym leader that way uses Psychic-types, which most of might be able to handle, but the second one uses Ghost-types, which none of us can even hit, save for Justin."

"Yeah. Either way it's going to be tough for me though," Justin added. "The Galeax gym leader uses flying-types so…then again I can hit them for neutral damage either way. Plus the trouble is somewhat mitigated by my Fennekin."

"I'll need to catch a Pokemon along the way there also," Keshin added. "My Treecko has more problems than Justin's Riolu, and I have nothing to back it up!"

"Don't worry. I know that there's several electric-types along that way," Ryan said.

"Alright," Justin interjected. "I guess now we'll be needing supplies. Let's see what these vouchers can get us."

"Running Shoes, a Pokedex, tent and sleeping bag, canteen and water purifier, Pokemon food, and 2000 in other supplies for each of us," Billy said.

"So we won't be needing a firestarting kit since we have Charmander and Fennekin," Keshin added. "We will be needing cooking supplies though. We have an advantage since we're such a large group. Most people seem to be just pairing off so there's less money for all of them."

"Yes, cooking supplies will be great here. A lot of fishing spots and the Magikarp is always good, so we'll need a fishing rod." Ryan noted. "Two Magikarps should be enough to last all of us a day."

"Always have been a fan of seafood," Justin said.

"So that should be enough for us to take care of ourselves," Keshin concluded. "Let's split up and get out supplies. We might as well meet up in front of the name rater. Good to give our Pokemon nicknames."

"Agreed. Let's head on out!" Justin said. They then split off to gather supplies.

That night, after setting up camp near some woods by the shore, the four of them sat around Billy's Charmander for warmth.

"So we've got Justin with Reiki and Merlinius, Ryan with Excalibur and Gawain, Billy with Blazesoul, and me with Hashirama. Looks like we'll be pretty warm for a while, with two fire-types."

"Don't worry, we've got plenty of time to round out our teams," Billy said, "We've got a whole two months to get around and fight the gym leaders."

Justin yawned. "Alright, we'd best get some rest. We've got a good ways to go tomorrow. Would be great to reach Greenpoint tomorrow. Good midpoint between here and Galeax."

"Agreed, Blazesoul, return!" Billy recalled his Charmander.

"Goodnight then," Ryan said as he returned to his tent.

"Goodnight!" everyone else replied as they all returned to their own tents.
