Severus Snape loved his mother very much. He would do anything for her; he just wished for her to see the truth, to accept once and for all that his father wasn't the man she had believed him to be. To accept that he had fooled her, he had fooled them all. He was a penniless alcoholic that had brought her only pain; rare were the times when he wainsulted And when he was, the beating would stop, but the insults , the fool words and the curses did not. Now that he was grown up, if you can say that at sixteen years of age, Severus realised that his mother really loved his father. She hadn't stayed all this years him from his father's wrath, she had stayed for him, to be a good wife.

Of course she had tried to be a good mother as well and sometimes she had succeeded. But other times...she let her husband rule the house.

Severus had wanted to make her proud, he had strived to be the best in school, especially in Potions, his mother's favourite subject. He was a genius in the field. But still, it hadn't been enough for his father who considered him an unworthy son for having magic.

Yes, Severus loved his mother, he was going to take action against his father. He couldn't stay any longer and watch how he insulted and threatened them every day.
