Molly woke up in a sweat. She glanced around the small room. She could hear Harry, Ginny, Hermione, and Ron down stairs talking in whispers. Ever since the war, the four have been a tight knit group.
Ever since the war… She's been having nightmares. Every night. Horrendous nightmare's plagued her mind, filling them with the images of her dead son. Her baby. Her Fred.
She sobbed lightly as the most recent dream reared its head again.
She looked at her husband lovingly. He usually held her when she awoke but he had a hard day earlier so she could understand him not awaking.
"Oh Fred… How we miss you. Mummy misses you…" She whispered, looking at the photograph on the stand.
She got up and went down to the kitchen.
"You four ought to get to bed at a decent time tonight." She scolded lightly to the children huddled down stairs.
"Yes mum." They chorused.
She nodded. She knew they wouldn't but nothing would be said. Not tonight.
She got a small cup of tea and stared at the clock. 1:30.
She sighed and watched the heads of her children tick around.
She figured when she was done she would head back to bed. She sipped the lavender tea with the grace she naturally held.
She rinsed the cup out and walked back into her bedroom, laying down next her beloved husband.
She stared at the ceiling of their small bedroom. Finally she drifted into some form of sleep.
She was in a forest. It was dark and foggy with the lush green plants surrounding her.
This wasn't what her dreams had been looking like. Molly took a few steps forward before she saw the patronus of a deer.
There was only one person she knew that had the patronus of a deer. "Lily?" She called aloud. "Lily, are you there?" She hadn't seen her friend from school in years.
The patronus turned into her old friend, Lily Potter.
"Lily." Molly smiled.
"Hello Molly." The woman smiled back, taking her hand in hers. "I have something to tell you."
The plump red head nodded.
"You watched over my son for many years. You were his mothering guide when I could not be there for him. You sheltered him when he needed it without question. For that I thank you."
Molly shook her head. "It wasn't a problem."
"Yet now it is my turn to repay you. Since you watched over my baby when I could not, I will do the same for you."
Molly's eyes widened. "Lily…"
Fred came up next to her. "Hi mum."
"Fred!" She gasped. "Harry's mum said she will watch over me till you come alright?"
Tears gathered in Molly's eyes. "Yes, alright. Lily… Thank you."
Lily smiled and nodded. "You can sleep peacefully now Molly. I will treat Fred as my own like you did for Harry." Lily said, wrapping her arm around Fred's shoulder.
Molly nodded, and the two slowly disappeared.
Molly woke up to a new day, she knew her boy was safe now. Lily would make sure of it.
Molly never had another nightmare.
