A Late Nite Occurrence

Authors Note and Disclaimer: After reading Deathly Hallows for the second time, I decided to write something. Mostly because it has been ages since anything remotely good has come from me. I actually like this one…its cute! So, anyways, this happens say…in their sixth year. Well, I do not own Harry Potter. The quote comes from the American edition of Deathly Hallows, page 756.

She was running late. Oh, was she running late. Only the second round of perfect duties this year, and she was already mucking it up. But as she ran to the designated location, she thought to herself, who would want to do perfect duties with Malfoy anyways? He's an annoying toe rag.

Rose Weasley finally slowed to a brisk jog as she rounded the corner to the corridor which contained the kitchens. Scorpius Malfoy was already standing outside the entry to the kitchens, his arms crossed, leaning against the wall, looking impatiently in her direction.

"You're late, Weasley." He said in a monotone manner, checking his watch. "By two minutes."

"Yeah—so?" Rose said, as she desperately tried to catch her breath. "I got here as fast as I could. Some first years got stuck in sinking steps."

Scorpius rolled his eyes and pushed himself off the wall. "Let's just get this over with," He said, and began walking down the hallway, not waiting for Rose to walk with him.

She trotted a little to catch up with him, but eventually fell in line. They walked in silence down the hallway, and proceeded down another, looking out for any students out during curfew. Rose glanced sideways at Scorpius every once and a while. He seemed disgruntled about having to do this with her, but she supposed he could take his lumps.

They continued that way or the better part of an hour—walking in silence, in line, while Rose snuck side glances at Scorpius to see his displeasure. Soon, they reached the kitchens again, and Rose looked at her watch. "Well, erm…its time to go back to our common rooms," she said awkwardly. "So, uhm, bye."

As Rose walked away from Scorpius, she did not expect him to grab her wrist and make her turn back around. Nor did she expect him to lightly kiss her lips before dashing off around the corner. Rose stood there, stunned, not believing was just happened. After a moment, she was able to collect herself, and yelled after him, turning the corner as well.

But it was too late. He was gone.

She looked down the corridor where he had disappeared down, and brought her fingertips to her lips. 'He did not just do that,' she thought to herself. As she continued to look down the hallway, the words her father spoke to her the first time she had ever laid eyes upon Scorpius came to her. 'Don't get too friendly with him Rosie. Granddad Weasley would never forgive you if you married a pureblood.'

Rose smiled, and turned around, heading back to her own common room.
