Ch 1
A glass was broken on the floor and coffee stained the ground. Blue eyes were shocked and a mind was reeling about the announcement on the news. He didn't know what to think, but he could feel his heart breaking and for what reason he did not understand.
"Mr. Briefs!" exclaimed his secretary as she burst into his office when she heard the crash. She picked up the broken pieces of the cup and wiped up the floor. She then looked to her boss and the expression on his face. "Are you all right sir?" she asked as she looked to where he was gazing. The announcement on the TV screen read Valese Rex to marry Goten Son. Before she could say anymore, Bulma Briefs came into the room and told the secretary to leave.
"Wow, I can't believe Goten's getting married and not just to anyone but to the daughter of the second most successful company, Rex Enterprises. Her father is—
"I know who her father is," he said coldly as he got off his seat.
"Trunks, sweetie you don't look so good. What's wrong?"
"I—I'm shocked is all. I just—
"Honey, they've been getting pretty serious. You would have known that if you ever bothered to see your best friend. You've been working too hard."
Trunks could feel himself becoming faint as his body just gave out on the floor. He felt his eyes closing as his mother screamed his name. Darkness covered his world.
Waking up, he could tell he was in the hospital. Looking around, he saw the worried faces of his mother, sister Bulla, her boyfriend Uub, and his father Vegeta.
"Wh—what happened? Why am I in a hospital bed?"
"Trunks, you fainted and I think it's time you took a vacation. It's been too long," said Bulma.
"Mom, no I'm fine," said Trunks.
"Until your next episode, right," said Bulla. "Trunks, something is going on with you. You need to talk to us, what's wrong?"
"I just want to be left alone. I need some sleep. The door's right there. You can't miss it," he said as he lied down in his bed, closing his eyes.
He heard the door close but before he could fall asleep, he sensed his father was still in the room. Trunks sat up in bed again, but he couldn't look at him.
"Son," said Vegeta in a surprisingly soft tone, "it's time to own up to what's been bothering you. I can tell it's been bothering you ever since Kakarott's second son was born."
Trunks' eyes widened. "I don't know what you're talking about father."
"Don't lie to me!" Vegeta yelled as he took Trunks by his hospital gown. "Do you take me for a fool?"
"No," Trunks said as he risked a gaze to his father.
"Then tell me the truth Trunks, tell yourself what you've been keeping locked up inside all these years."
"I—I'm in love with Son Goten," he said as he saw something change in his father's eyes. He was surprised to see nothing but respect and pride, and Trunks found himself overwhelmed by emotions as he cried into his father's arms, holding him tight. He felt his father hold him tighter.
