Hi everyone here is another little one-shot of Katniss and Peeta's final night before they pass away at around 100 years old. Its short and sweet and I hope you all love it x
"Always" Till the End
Their bodies can hardly carry themselves anymore. Each step is more painful than the last. They hold each other up with shaky hands as they walk to their bedroom for the last time. They know it's the end and they don't mind.
As they carefully lie down and hold each other as they have done ever unify for the past 80 or so years, they look into each others eyes and reminisce in the hard lives both have lived. A life both with and without the Hunger Games, a life with both loss and gain, love and hate, depression and happiness, and at all times with each other.
They don't want to close their eyes incase they don't see each other in the next life whatever that life may be. So they keep staring at each other, and instead of seeing the tired, worn and old faces they now posses they see the younger, healthier, brighter yet still scarred faces of each other that they feel in love with one longer than the other.
As Peeta looks into his old wife's eyes he can't believe how lucky he has been. To get everything he ever wanted. He got his perfect girl to love him, marry him, have children with him, grow old with him and now die with him. The experienced heartache and terror is no match for the love and joy he feels at this moment and every moment before.
As Katniss looks into her husbands still perfectly blue eyes she wonders how it took her so long to realise she loved him ever since he fed her when they were children, and why it took her so long to admit it. She remember her old friends saying "you could live a thousand lifetimes and never deserve that boy." After many years of drunk advice from that man that was the one bit of advice she was always so sure about however, no matter how much she didn't deserve him she could never live without him. And after all the loss and sorrow she has felt in her life he made it all worthwhile, him and her two children who are all grown up now.
As their eyes begin to get heavy they know it's time they know they will be reunited with people they loved and lost : Prim, Rue, Finnick, Cinna, Madge, Mags, Thresh, Beetee, Wiress, Peeta's Family, Mr and Mrs Everdeen, Haymitch, Effie, Annie, Johanna, Greasy Sae, Delly and the Hawthornes.
They kiss each other one final time as small tears fall from their cheeks.
"I love you Peeta. I always have and I always will. Thank you for everything you did for me and thank you for saving me one to many times." Katniss says. With tears falling.
"I love you too Katniss. Thank you so much for being you and being and giving everything I ever wanted and needed thank you for also saving me from not only the games but from myself. Thank you for everything." Peeta says tears also running down his cheeks but giving her a smile that was only ever for her.
"Thank you for staying with me" Katniss says breathlessly knowing those are the last words she will ever speak. And right before they drift off into the after life Peeta manages to say one final thing to his beloved.
