AN: A new one-shot from me here *grins awkwardly*-
The swing squeaked as the wind pushed it backwards and forwards with its invisible hands. The wind then moved on around the desolate play park, leaving the swing again to fall back into its previous state of stillness.
Screams and giggles echoed and bounced around the play park. Children ran around chasing each other or sliding down the bright blue slides. Mothers and fathers sat calmly on the benches lining the side of the park, watching cautiously to check that their child was not hurt.
The grey clouds dimmed the sunlight shining down from the Mediterranean sky. Two teenage figures walked slowly down the gravel path separating the play park from the rest of the park. They didn't at first seem to notice the silent shape of the once noisy park.
Two young girls ran around the park to the sandbox, leaving a woman sitting on the bench behind. The sun glimmered off their hair and the darker haired one grabbed the other girl's pinkie, swinging their arms between them.
"Remember when we came here the first year to visit Aunt Marie?" One of the girls asked. The blonde nodded, wrapping her arm around the brunette girl's waist. "There was a play park here that was always so busy."
"Yeah, we were seven, right San?" the first girl asked, "We always used to come back here after that first time. You saved me from the swing set!" Santana smiled and they carried on walking past the park until Brittany stopped suddenly in her path and turned towards the empty play area. Santana followed her gaze towards the swing and knew what she was going to do.
"Race you to the swing, Santana!" she smiled back and ran off towards the swings. They ran towards the swings, both of them had had lots of Cheerios training since they last did this so it was a close competition. Brittany jumped on the swing easily, milliseconds before Santana. She dug her toes into the ground and rocked gently.
"Bet I beat you to the swing, Sanny!" Brittany ran to the swings with a small skip in her step, bouncing on her toes. Santana hopped after her. Brittany wrapped a small arm around the structure of the swing, spinning around until Santana caught up.
"Hey, you didn't give me a warning! That wasn't fair!" She said, hopping on the seat of the swing before the other girl could. Brittany's face dropped and Santana slid up the seat and patted the tiny spot on the seat beside her. Brittany squeezed in and hugged her tightly.
"Thanks."
"You always won that, I don't even know why I still try to beat you." Santana said leaning against the metal structure of the swing set. Brittany shrugged.
"It's tradition."
Brittany sat on the swing in the empty park, the seat in the swing set had been replaced in the past years; it was now a murky green that seemed to blend in with the background of the unused park.
"Why did we stop that tradition?" She asked in a small voice. Santana shrugged and walked over to the seat, wrapping her fingers around the rope. Brittany moved her fingers down the rope gently and entwined her fingers with Santana's. The silence fell again and the pair walked away towards the sandbox.
The two girls ran up to their aunt and took one of her hands, grinning and prancing on the walk home.
AN: So, that was that... I started this a while ago and I decided to finish it today.
Please review! It will make my day a little bit brighter!
