Yesterday is a wrinkle on your forehead

Yesterday is a promise that you've broken

Don't close your eyes, don't close your eyes

This is your life and today is all you've got now

Yeah, and today is all you'll ever have

Don't close your eyes Don't close your eyes

This is your life, are you who you want to be

This is your life, are you who you want to be

This is your life, is it everything you dreamed it would be

When the world was younger and you had everything to lose

Clark stood with rain soaking his hair, it in turn running rivulets down his back. But he was impervious to the weather and he stood with a hand and his forehead pressed against the glass. He was watching Lex in the study. He didn't know why he was out here, it just felt like something he had to do. He had to see Lex tonight, even if Lex didn't see him.

He felt that this was the only times that he could see the real Lex. The Lex that existed when he thought no one was watching, that no one cared. But Clark did care, and he was always watching Lex, always caring. He just wished Lex could see that there was something more to his life, something more than this castle, and the company controlled by his father.

Clark knew that Lex wasn't happy most of the time, he was only happy with him. But there was nothing he could do about it, because as long as the rest of the world either didn't care about Lex Luthor or thought that since he had so much money he couldn't possibly have any problems, and Lex wasn't about to correct them. Life got too complicated if people started caring too much. So as long as the world thought he was happy, Clark could do nothing to change Lex.

Yesterday is a kid in the corner

Yesterday is dead and over

This is your life, are you who you want to be

This is your life, are you who you want to be

This is your life, is it everything you dreamed it would be

When the world was younger and you had everything to lose

As Clark watched him, he could almost see Lex give up, resign himself to the life that his father had mapped out for him. He couldn't understand how Lex could just roll over and play dead. The Lex that Clark knew fought for what was right, fought for his own life. But what Clark didn't realize is that no matter how independent Lex seemed, his life was still ruled by his father.

Lex spent most of his life tried to get the best of his father. To show him that Lex was worth something. To receive the pat on the head that he had never gotten as a child. Lex knew that his life would never be his, not even if his father were to die. Lex also knew that most of his life was a lie, even the part of himself he let Clark see. He knew Clark had his own lies to protect though, so maybe it was only fair.

Lex thought he felt someone watching him, but when he turned around to look out the window, there was nothing there. Not a twig, leaf, or bud out of place, just the rain outside, and the cold of the castle inside.

This is your life, are you who you want to be, who you want to be yeah

This is your life, are you who you want to be (who you want to be)

This is your life, is it everything you dreamed it would be

When the world was younger and you had everything to lose

And you had everything to lose
