Sakura shifted in her bed, kicking the sheets off in frustration. She thrashed around for a mintue before glaring a the ceiling. She couldn't get comfortable. Sighing in resignation, she moved into a sitting position and straightened out her night gown, rolling her eyes at herself for choosing one of her lacier ones when she wasn't even back yet. Her eyes widened and a knot formed in her stomach.
She wasn't back yet, it'd been three weeks already, and the mission had been set at two weeks. Tears welled in her eyes and she wiped them away quickly. No need to worry, Anko was a strong woman, she would make it home. Though Sakura would have to scold her for being late. He heart clenched painfully and she swiftly stood and removed a book from the shelf nearby. She sat back down and began to read, her usual method to stop thinking about something. Though tonight it wasn't working and her mind was running overtime. What if she wasn't coming back? What if she ways captured? What if she could have gone ot save her but hadn't? What if..? What if..? She took a deep breath and left the bedroom. She poured a glass of water and drank it all in one gulp, leaning on the counter and panting afterwards.
It was no use, the pounding in her chest increased and panic bagan to set in, though she willed it away, panic was something medical ninja could not afford to succumb to. After a few minutes the panic subsided and she stumbled into the living room, falling back into the couch. She smiled softly as she remembered the many times she and Anko had sat on that couch, sitting close, cuddling while watching a movie or somethign on their small television or just enjoying each other's company. She squirmed on the couch, unable to find a comfortable position and growled in frustration. She stood again, intending to go back to bed and lay there until morning when she'd go back to the hospital.
The door creaked open and Sakura whirled around, ready for any coming attack, even if she was only in her night gown. Her eyes widened and she leapt towards the intruder. Anko had returned! Her heart soared as she helped the woman stumble into the bed room. She leyed her down and stripped off her outer wear. She bandaged the few cuts and brushed back Anko's bangs, smiling softly.
"Welcome home." She whispered and Anko grinned in turn.
"It's good to be home." She responded, her voice a little raspy. Sakura kissed her temple and draped herself across the older woman's chest, listening to her heart beat. Anko chuckled, "Did you miss me?"
Sakura sighed happily, "Very much. What took you so long?"
"I was delayed, spotted."
"Mmm, you came back in pretty good shape, I'm glad." Sakura nuzzled into Anko's chest while the older woman chuckled. "We'll argue over your lateness later, right now we sleep."
"Can I change first? I probably smell rancid." Anko asked sweetly and Sakura laughed, rising and hel;ping Anko up as well. She went to the dresser and picked out a night gown, quickly helping Anko dress. They lay down on the bed and Sakura slid back into Anko's arms, her back to Anko's chest. She sighed contently, turning a little to kiss the otehr woman before snuggling into her hold.
"I love you, Sakura-chan."
"I love you too." Now she was comfortable.
I hope you enjoyed it somewhat! I'd love it if you'd review! (just don't flame me, ugh)
