They stood on stage. The curtain was rising, the lights were blinding, and the fans were cheering. Like every time before, the band was already prepared. They were ready for the first song to start.
"How's everyone doing tonight?" Koda asked, his voice echoing throughout the large room. He had said this line so many times, the dedicated fans already knew the drill. But Spike planned to mix it up.
After the crowd finished whooping and hollering, Spike made his voice heard.
"Alright, now, I know this isn't how this normally goes, but, how was everyone's Halloween?" He paused for positive shouts of the crowd. "Well I learned something on Halloween this year, I think you'll find it just as amusing as I did," he began, giving a knowing look at Koda. "Koda wears panties!" He exclaimed, pulling something from his pocket. "These are those panties!"
Spike sadistically laughed and shot them from the stage with his fingers for some fangirl to worship. He hoped Koda wasn't too mad. Or Romi would kill him. Literally.
Koda turned fire engine red. He had no idea what to do. He didn't want to storm off stage like a spoiled brat, but if he just stood there he would seem like and idiot. He felt like a puppy being kicked to the curb or a 3rd grader who just got caught picking his nose. He was the most embarrassed then than he ever had been in his life. Everyone was laughing at him. Thousands of people laughing at what should be kept a bedroom secret. Something that doesn't leave the bedroom.
When he looked at the band behind him, he saw they were laughing too. Even caring little Ringo. Some definition of caring they had. The only person looking genuinely concerned was Romi.
He felt something building up in his chest. A broken sob escaped his lips. The tears he was holding back began to flow. Spike didn't realise how much he overdid it. That had really damaged Koda's pride.
When Spike realised how much he had hurt Koda, he felt instantly guilty. Maybe he had said just a little too much. Based on the poor boy's initial reaction, he was sure he had gone overboard.
Eventually, they managed to settle him down. Romi had to forcibly make him stop crying. Meaning, covering his mouth with his hand and whispering something in his ear. No one knew what he said, but whatever it was made him immediately stop crying.
Romi went back to his keyboard. Koda wiped his eyes and turned to face the silent crowd.
"Sorry about that folks, Spike doesn't know when to shut his trap. How about we get started for tonight?"
The crowd started cheering again, encouraging him to gone on after what just happened.
In the end, it turned out alright. The concert was good, and nothing else went wrong.
The band all jumped in the van, except for Romi and Koda.
"Where ya goin'?" Spike asked.
"Well, I owe Koda a trip to Six Flags now," Romi stated with a triumphant smile.
