Soifon laced up her skates quickly. She was no doubt the best ice skater in the Soul Society. For New Years, the Thirteen Guard Companies were having a late night skate on one of the biggest lakes in the Sereitei.
She stood up and walked carefully to the edge of the frozen lake. She stepped onto the ice and glided gracefully to the centre. She executed a spinning double axle and landed with one foot raised.
Soifon could see Hinamori and Matsumoto dragging a pouting Hitsugaya to the ice. Everyone was decked out in sweaters and scarves.
Soifon could see some people shooting glances at eachother with blushes on their faces. Some were standing alone. She decided to play a little "match-maker".
Nemu was standing on the side. Soifon was amazed that her father had actually let her come. She followed her gaze and smiled. She swooped over and nabbed her like a hawk snatching its prey. Nemu yelped and hung on tightly.
She skated powerfully to the man that Nemu had been watching. Soifon smiled and dropped a surprised and now blushing Nemu into Captain Ukitake's arms. The captain looked down, surprised to see the beautiful girl that he had dreamed about land in his arms.
Soifon pumped her fist up and down and flashed the Victory symbol cheerfully. She grabbed Nanao, who was skating quietly, and dropped her beside Shunsei, who smiled happily.
She skated behind Hinamori and shoved her lightly. Hinamori glided forward in alarm and grabbed onto Hitsugaya, making them both blush.
Then she grabbed Matsumoto and flung her in the direction of Gin Ichimaru. Soifon glided to the to a tent set up on the edge of the river. She stepped onto the snow and approached the tent.
"Mmmm, Kisuke! This is sooo good! Mmmmmm!" Came a voice from inside the tent. It was Yoruichi.
Soifon peeked in out of curiosity and rolled her eyes. It was Yoruichi and Urahara; eating chocolate.
"Boy I hope Ichigo comes soon so he can try this!" said Yoruichi with a mouth full of chocolate.
"He's already here." Urahara replied.
Soifon quickly darted to the ice and skated towards the crowd. She spotted his orange hair and sped toward him. He was skating alone, looking around.
She reached out and latched onto his arm. He jerked, startled, and almost lost his balance. "What are you doing?" he asked softly.
"Shhh!" she pointed up and the sky erupted into a storm of colour. Various fireworks shot up into to the sky and exploded. When it was all over, a loud cheer from all the Soul Reapers filled the air.
"Hey Ichigo." He turned to her. She took placed her hands on both sides of his head and pulled him toward her. Her eyes fluttered close as their lips met. They stayed like that for a few moments and then pulled apart, both dazed and happy.
"Happy New Year, Ichigo." Soifon whispered. He took her hand and they skated off.
Close by, Captain Ukitake and Nemu were making out. Nemu was trying to clarify if Ukitake really liked her and probably asking why kisses felt so good.
