Hinamori sat beside Hitsugaya on the park bench. It had been an enjoyable evening, even though they were out on a mission.
She snuck a glance at her white haired companion, blushing slightly. The whole day had felt like a date, and Hinamori hoped the Hollow would never show up.

Hinamori fingered the hem of her white sundress. Matsumoto had outfitted them both in 'suitable clothing,' and although Hitsugaya had complained heavily, she really liked her dress, and thought Hitsugaya just looked adorable.
Hinamori gazed at the setting sun. They had found a really beautiful view of the splendid crimson colors, which reminded her slightly of the fireballs Tobiume could shoot out from her blade.

"Hey, Momo," Hitsugaya began. "Did you have fun today?"
"Yeah!" Hinamori blurted, then turned red. "I mean, yes, I did enjoy it. A lot."
Silence fell once more.
"Is the Hollow ever going to come?" asked Hinamori tentatively.
Hitsugaya frowned. "I don't know. I'm beginning to think Matsumoto set us up."
"Oh."

Hinamori stiffened suddenly.
"What's wrong?" asked Hitsugaya.
"Nothing!" Hinamori felt in her pockets. Where was it? Aha! Smiling triumphantly, Hinamori pulled out a bag of candied beans. "Here! Granny made these for you!"
Hitsugaya accepted the bag. "Thank you. Would you like some as well?"
"Of course."

The two Shinigami munched on the sweets.
"Say," Hinamori broke the silence. "Why would Matsumoto-san set us up, anyways?"
Hitsugaya turned away, but his friend could still detect a tinge of a blush on his cheeks. "No idea."

If he didn't want to tell her, it wasn't her business. "Are you sure, Shiro-chan?"
"Don't call me that!"
Hinamori giggled softly, hand to her lips.

Hitsugaya flipped open his Soul Pager. "There aren't any signals. Let's go home."
He stood up, and made to leave.
"Wait!" Hinamori grabbed his arm. "Just a little bit longer?"

He sat back down, a little closer than he had been before.
"Thank you," Hinamori gazed at her hands, feeling extremely awkward.
"Say, Shiro-chan?"
"What?"
"Didn't you come here recently and play soccer with Kurosaki-san's little sister?"
Hitsugaya chuckled dryly. "If I remember correctly, I was forced to."

Letting her laughter trail off, Hinamori leaned back against the bench. "What's Matsumoto-san doing tonight?"
Hitsugaya frowned. "Hopefully doing her paper work, but she's more likely drinking with Captain Ichimaru, Captain Kyoraku, and Assistant Captain Hisagi."

Back in Soul Society, Matsumoto sneezed on Gin.
"Eww, gross!" he cried. "What was that for, Ran-chan?!"
Matsumoto wiped her nose on her sleeve. "Captain and Momo-chan are dancing around their confessions."
"The reason you sent them both to the World of the Living in the first place?"
"Yep."

Hitsugaya snorted. "Yeah, it'll be REAL fun dealing with her hang-over tomorrow morning."

He was cut off abruptly, as Hinamori had carefully pressed her lips against his.
Hitsugaya stumbled back, blushing furiously. Hinamori was also very red, but she still managed to get her next words out: "I'm sorry, Shiro-chan! I like you!"
Hitsugaya's mouth turned up at the corners, morphing into one of his rare smiles. "Dummy. How did you think I felt?"
