Narnia came into being to the sound of Aslan's voice

Narnia came into being to the sound of Aslan's voice. He sang the wonders of a magical land into being and to each piece of his creation he assigned a different song. The brooks babble and laugh in joy; the mountains are peaceful in their serenity. Each soul is intricate and beautiful, unique in the music Aslan has given to it.

Many years ago, I heard the great lion sing a new tune: a melody of faith. The sweet chords of confidence swelled and joined the subtle overtones of humility. A harmony of joy and goodwill emerged. As his song soared, Aslan sang of talent and of love. When he had completed this great work, Aslan gave it to a young girl.

"It is yours: use it well."

The girl began to play the piece. Sometimes she faltered; at times she sounded the wrong note, for not even the greatest of us can truly comprehend the music of our creator. Aslan's glory shone through the girl's playing: through the beautifully executed passages and the valiantly attempted trills and nuances. The girl chose to be an instrument for her maker's music.

Today the girl plays on. Her music is not perfect, but it is beautiful. It is the music of her heart and the music of her soul. Aslan still shines through this music and when the world seems dull and dreary, I am cheered by the life of the girl named Dearheart.
