One Thing

Mika wasn't granted freedom very often, and even then, it was false freedom. He couldn't escape the vampire city to find his family, so he was confined to its borders. During one of his wanderings, he stumbled upon a run-down church. The outer walls of the building were crumbling, but the inner ceiling was tall with bleached-white stone columns.

The quiet building had become a sanctuary in which he could get away from everything. When he went to the building, he often prayed. Lamenting on his failure to save the rest of his family, he prayed for his remaining family's safety… and there was one other thing.

One day – directly after he had received a report on his family's current status – he eagerly fled to the run-down building. His quick flight was most likely noticed by a certain vampire that he wanted to avoid, but he felt the need to contemplate on the report. And so, it was on the day that he had found out where Yu was that he found himself praying again.

The footsteps that echoed along the high ceiling almost broke his concentration as a sigh left him. He continued to pray, trying to focus on anything but the person coming towards him. Even so, the vampire's taunting call invaded his quiet time.

Mika prayed. He could have prayed for any number of things, but there was one thing – except for Yu-chan's safety – that he actually prayed for.

Please let Ferid die today.

The small utterance of a thought floated from his mind. The short plea had been ringing through his mind during several times that he had come to the run-down church. Soon after his turning from a human to a vampire, the dark thought had invaded his mind. Maybe it was a sin, but he figured that appealing to the higher power that created the world might actually shorten the other vampire's lifespan – if only by a day.

On one of the early trips to the church – when Krul still had to accompany him for fear of him escaping – she had inquired on what he actually had to pray about. When she heard of his honest answer – Yu-chan's safety and Ferid's swift death – she had laughed, saying that they agreed for once.

The taunting footsteps echoed ever closer to his resting place and – once they were close enough – Mika drew his sword, pointing it at the intruder. Ferid seemed mockingly surprised, but continued to inform him nonetheless about the report. The other vampire knew that the news wasn't new to the blonde, but repeating it probably left him with some sort of sick satisfaction.

And so, as Mika left the church following Ferid, he sent another plea heavenward:

Please let him die soon.

So, this came from another humor-filled rambling and – since I haven't made anything mocking Ferid for a while – I figured I would write this one up quickly~. It's shorter than most of my other ones, but I hope it was somewhat amusing nonetheless. In case this wasn't clear, this takes place at the end of Episode 3 when Mika is confirmed to be alive (wow, such a long time ago!). Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed and please let me know what you thought in a review!
