"Ouch!"

"Shush, stop being a baby." Adrian continues disinfecting the small burn on JC's hand. "You know, this wouldn't have happened if some idiot hadn't tried to ignite Splenda sugar to see if the flames turned purple."

"I read about it on Reddit! Forum user lickmydragonballs said that he tried it at home and it worked!"

"...You're really not helping your case." Wrapping a bandage around the wound, Adrian sits back, surveying his work. "There. You probably won't die from this injury." JC looks at his hand, wincing slightly "Thanks bro, sorry I came over so late about this," he rubs the back of his neck sheepishly.

"My sister loves you, she wouldn't have let me turn you away, despite how much I wanted to." Adrian turns away, reassembling the first aid kit. "But why didn't you just ask your mom or sister for help?"

"Oh… my sister is staying at her girlfriend's house tonight, and mom's been so busy with work that I didn't want to wake her up when she's just gotten home. But hey, you're always home at 2 am, so I knew I could come to you!" JC gives him a smile, at which Adrian just sighs, saying "Well, you're all better, so I'll see you on Monday I guess."

JC's smile falls, and he glances downwards before speaking, "Uh… I was actually wondering if I could sleep over for the night.."

Adrian raises his eyebrow skeptically, "Why? You wanna try setting my house on fire too?"

"No, no! It's just I don't wanna accidentally wake up my mom...and I may have accidentally locked myself out…"

"Of course you did. Why wouldn't you, Jesse Cooper Lang, lock yourself out of your own house at 2 am with a burnt hand." Adrian shakes his head, a ghost of a smile on his lips.
"C'mon man, don't mock me like this! Can I stay or not?" JC asks, becoming increasingly flustered.

"Fine, fine, just lemme grab a spare blanket and pillow and you can stay on the couch." Adrian leaves the room to grab said blanket and pillow.

"Thanks bro, I really do appreciate this!"

"Yeah yeah. You know, eventually you're gonna have to start becoming more independent. It's not like I'm your permanent caretaker." Adrian returns with the pillow and blanket, only to find that JC had fallen asleep at the kitchen table. He lets out a small chuckle, setting the blanket and pillow aside. "This boy can sleep anywhere, can't he?" With a lot of difficulty, he manages to lift JC up and carry him to his room, setting him down on Adrian's bed. After tossing a blanket over him (and taking off his shoes, don't wanna get his blankets dirty) Adrian pats JC's head, muttering "You're a walking disaster, man." Adrian spent that night sleeping on the floor, or at least trying to, as JC snores quite a bit.
