Lily Evans was working very hard on a Potions paper on Amortentia in the library. She was on her last paragraph. Excited to be nearly finished, she started writing faster and faster. With only a sentence left to go, her quill snaps right in half.
"Oh god," Lily said, starting to rummage through her bag for an extra to find nothing. "Oh god, oh god."
Beginning to panic because it was getting rather late and the essay being due the next, she looked frantically around the library for other students who may have an extra., but the library seemed to be completely empty. Then she heard a laugh come from the other side of the bookshelves.
Relieved to have found another person, she ran around the corner of the aisle to see Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, and of course, James Potter. Oh how she hated them all, they were always so arrogant and up to no good. She thought about turning around and walking away, but her frantic run towards them had attracted their attention.
"Uh..." she started not sure if she should just go ahead and ask them, or to make up some lame excuse for running over like there was a fight outside. Why not? She thought, what's the worst thing that could happen? Decided, she continued, "Do any of you happen to have a quill I could, er, borrow for a second?"
The foursome stared up at her blankly. Lily was in the process of turning back around to go pack up her books and finish the essay in her dorm when a voice said, "I've got one."
She whirled around to see James holding a quill out to her. "Thanks, I'll have it back in a minute," Lily said, reaching out for the quill, but Sirius pulled James' hand back.
"Not so fast, what is James going to gain from this?" he asked. Lily rolled her eyes. She didn't have time to play games with them.
"Be my girlfriend, and the quill is yours," James said, grinning. "You have to actually admit it and act like it too, for at least 3 weeks…"
"Yeah, whatever, fine…" Lily said, snatching the quill from his hand and walked away. James, Sirius, Remus and Peter also got up and left the library.
The next day in their charms lesson, Lily went up to James to give him back his quill. As she held it out to him, he pushed her hand away and said, "Keep it…girlfriend." At that word, the entire class turns and looks at Lily and James.
"Okay boyfriend," she said, glaring at both James and Sirius, who was sitting beside him.
"I saved you a seat here beside me Lily," James said, glancing sideways at Sirius as if to say this is the greatest game ever! Lily reluctantly sat down and the rest of the class went back to talking before their professor came in.
"Are you really going to keep this up for the next 3 weeks?" Lily whispered to James.
"Yep, sure am. But don't worry, after the first week, you'll be in love with me too." His reply made Lily a little scared. Was James really in love with her? Come to find out, he was. He was absolutely crazy about her, and he was also right, after the first week, she started to like being his girlfriend and she soon fell in love with him as well.
