Hello anyone who decided to check this out! This is a poem I wrote for my English class a while ago about the death of poor little Rue. Please read it, knowing that this is my first upload.

Disclaimer: I never said I was a good poet. I may be good at rhyming, but that's not the point.

Real Disclaimer: I don't own Hunger Games or its characters. If I did, I would never have cast those actors for the movie.

Enjoy!

Rue, of District 11

Youngest tribute of two dozen

Her keen ears pick up everything

The players shout, the wasps are buzzing

The mockingjays– her song they sing

Her eyes, like orchards of her toil

See all that is in light and murk

Her clever eyes of a deep, rich soil

Light forest shadows where she lurks

Her wispy frame is like a cloud

You'd knock her over when you breathe

But her warning song she trills out loud

To show friend and foe what's beneath

Bird-like was the little girl

As she leapt from tree to tree

With her slingshot, the stones she'd hurl

As far as her dark eyes could see

Her body was small but her heart was whole

And her trust was so complete

Her ally was the Maiden of Coal

Who would never bow down in defeat

Coal girl had their survival planned

For a short time, they parted

The ally hurt their enemies and

The Bird got a fire started

A hidden hunter followed her

The Bird girl he would kill

The spear he threw was swift and sure

As it struck, her scream was shrill

The Coal Maiden came running

And let out an angry roar

The bloody scene was stunning

A spear through the Bird girl's core

Fury fills her head to toe

As she avenges her dying friend

She shoots an arrow at their foe

The hunter's life did end

Coal Maiden cradled the girl in her arms

And wiped off the twelve-year-old's tears

Then said she would meet no more harm

And sang away all of her fears

The goodbye song at last is heard

Wildflowers frame her face

Be gone, be free, my little bird

Fly away from this deadly place

Author's Note (wow it feels so cool to say that): Yay! I feel so happy this is done! I just noticed this poem is eleven stanzas. Coincidence, or destiny? Hmm…
