If there was any sort of explanation as to why Jason hadn't been tempted to open Pandora's Box, or had been able to look at Medusa without being turned to stone...well, Jason would damn well like to know it.
Because if he wasn't scared by his strange abilities before, he sure as hell was now.
Pythagoras wasn't used to seeing Jason like this. Usually it was him who would seek comfort with others, not Jason. So when he was awoken by Jason slipping quietly into his bed, to say he was surprised would be an understatement.
"Hey," Pythagoras turned around to face Jason, frowning at the strained looked on the other mans face. "What's wrong?"
As if on cue, Jason burst into tears.
Startled, Pythagoras sat up, pulling Jason up with him, and wrapped his arms around Jason's neck. Jason clung to him, gasping for air, as though he was drowning.
It took several minutes to calm the hysterical man in Pythagoras' arms. Upon succeeding this, he pulled Jason to the main room and began heating up milk and honey together while the other man fought to breathe properly again.
"Sorry." Jason managed in a raspy voice, accepting the drink Pythagoras offered him. "I didn't mean to startle you. It's just - in the caves today - and the box -" his voice failed.
Pythagoras frowned, setting his drink down on the table. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
Jason looked up, surprised. "Help? Why would you want to help me?"
Eyebrows shooting up, Pythagoras surveyed the clearly exhausted man next to him. "Why wouldn't I?"
Jason was staring at him now with a bemused look, but his eyes were affectionate.
"What did I do to ever deserve someone like you, Pythagoras?"
The question threw Pythagoras off guard.
"Well, fell through my window and nearly ruined all my work, for one..." He mused.
Jason laughed lightly, taking a gulp of his drink.
A comfortable silence fell between the two. Finishing his drink, Pythagoras began to feel drowsy, and by the look on Jason's face, he was the same.
"You're welcome to sleep in my bed tonight, if you wish." Pythagoras hoped he sounded casual. Jason watched him blow out the candles carefully.
"Pythagoras, I'm going to do something I've been wanting to do for a while now and I can only pray it doesn't make things awkward between us."
"And what would that be?" Pythagoras grinned, standing up straight and jumping at how close Jason was standing next to him.
Jason searched the blonde man's face, almost hungrily, desperately, and began to lean in closer.
Pythagoras' heart gave a jolt as their lips met. Almost instinctively, he ran his fingers through Jason's dark hair, leaving it in a state of disarray. Letting Jason bite down softly on his bottom lip, Pythagoras allowed him entrance, his heart beating wildly because Jason's hands were on him and so was Jason's mouth and there wasn't an inch of space between them and this was bliss, sheer bliss.
Pulling away, foreheads pressed together and not daring to let the other go, Pythagoras looked up, seeing the tracks of tears on Jason's face.
"Why are you crying?"
Jason laughed breathlessly. "Dunno. Guess I'm a bit in love with you."
The kiss they shared now was longer, slow and unhurried and tender.
It'd been so long, far too long, since Pythagoras had been kissed by anyone, and for Jason to be the one doing it now was doing such things to his body, it made him feel slightly desperate.
There was a glint in Jason's eyes when they pulled away again. "I think," he whispered, "we should take this elsewhere."
Pythagoras' eyes fluttered shut as he fell into Jason's embrace. "Agreed."
