A black limousine was parked on a bridge, the Washington monument visible in the background. Something big was going on here, that was to be sure, but who was involved? Inside the vehicle, two men discussed something that would change the world.
"I think our only real option at this point is to get the United States government involved," stated Nathan Petrelli flatly. He sat reclined in the comfortable seat, but stress was visible on his as plainly as the black suit he wore. He was addressing an African American man sitting across from him, who was flipping through a folder containing names and pictures, from people to genome sequences.
"And you're saying all of these people have abilities," said the man, while he looked at a profile of a woman named Tracy Strauss. Nathan nodded his head in confirmation before speaking.
"Them and more," he replied, "A lot more. The important thing to remember is how dangerous these people can become if left unchecked. I had a solution...it proved unsuccessful."
"It's all there," he continued as the man flipped through, settling on the page of a Japanese man named Hiro Nakamura, "All the evidence you need."
"What exactly is it that you're asking to do?" asked the mysterious man.
"I want to round them up," he said, "Put them in a facility where they won't be a danger to anyone."
"All right Senator," said the man, "Lets get you what you need." Nathan Petrelli got up and exited the vehicle, but before shutting the door, he leaned back in.
"Thank you mister president," he said, before shutting the door and stepping back. He stood on the dark bridge as the limo left, the rest of the motorcade following soon after. And he was alone, alone in thought and alone in the world.
That little exchange of words, that passing of information, changed hundreds if not thousands of lives in an instant. People, ordinary and special, went about there lives for the next month, unaware of the terror about to be set forth upon them.
A terror that would change them from Heroes...to Fugitives.
