Rose Weasley allows her fingers to lightly dance across the scars covering Lavender's neck and right shoulder as Lavender lays against her chest. It's one of Rose's favorite places to be, here with Lavender wrapped in her arms. Her parents may not like the relationship, but Rose will be damned if she lets anyone in between them.
"You know you're beautiful, right?" Rose asks softly, interrupting the silence that has fallen between the pair.
Lavender laughs. "Oh, but you are," Rose immediately says. Pushing Lavender onto the bed, Rose leans over her. Pressing feather light kisses against the scars caused from a war so long ago, Rose becomes more determined than ever to prove to her lover just what she thinks about her.
"You" – a kiss – "are" – another kiss – "so" – a series of kisses – "beautiful."
In that moment, Lavender can't help but smile at Rose's intent. When Rose has finished kissing the scars, she looks into Lavender's brown eyes, smiling brightly. "You know, having scars is nothing to be ashamed of," Rose tells her. Lavender scoffs, but Rose pretends not to hear it. "It shows that you are brave and loyal, and that's what makes you beautiful."
Lavender has no words for this. Instead, she captures Rose's lips with her own. She wonders how she ended up with a girl like Rose, but she's surely not complaining.
"I love you," Lavender whispers softly.
"Love you, Lavender," Rose says back without hesitation. Pulling Lavender back into her arms, Rose's fingers continue to caress her scars until they fall asleep.
