Hi. I thought I'd try to do a oneshot. This is my first angst. Please, try not to be too cynical!

She didn't want to smile.
It was as simple as that. Oh, sure, she knew she should. She knew she needed to remind them to keep fighting for a better tomorrow, but she couldn't.
Not today.
Usualy, Kagome was a seemingly bright, happy girl. Usualy, the sadness that touched her companions didn't seem to bother her at all. She was always looking on the bright side of things, comforting her friends who were unable to fight agianst the rising odds.
Not now.
All her companions had better, more valid reasons not to smile, she knew that. They had every right to be depressed. It was Kagomes job to help them to see that there still were reasons to be happy. Still reasons to fight on.
But she couldn't.
Miroku could die any minute, because of that cursed hole in his hand! Sangos village had been destroyed, and her beloved brother turned agianst her! And Inuyasha, oh god, Inuyasha! Betrayed by the woman he loved, lost fifty years of his life, having to live knowing his true loves murderer ran around unchecked! Compared to that, her troubles should be meaningless!
But they weren't.
She had come back from the past, smiling at the thought of seeing the family she so dearly misssed, to find out the agoonizing truth.
There had been an accedent.
A drunk driver.
Grandpa had gone out to get her a present for when she returned. It had been late, and he wasn't paying attention. All of a sudden, a car swerved into the wrong lane. He hit the car.
G TELL ME!randpa didn't make it.
It was an old car. There weren't any air bags. It was an antique.
Grandpa always loved antiques.
The medics declared he haad died on impact. He had gone straight through the windshield. Now he was just a percentage.
Kagome gripped her covers, willing it not to be true. He couldn't be dead. Not her Grandpa, the annoying, silly man who knew how to make her laugh.
She knew she needed to get over it. That she had to pull herself togeher for the battel with Naraku. She knew she had to smile.
But she couldn't.
