After the Opera

Chapter 1: Girl on the Street

Fry thought writing an opera for Leela would be the best way to win her love. So he tried his best playing the holophone. He took classes and practiced every night, with Leela being his inspiration, but no matter now much he practiced he still played bad. Maybe it was because he got nervous, but Fry's music teacher claimed it was his "stupid fingers".

Fry felt hopeless until Bender convinced him to make a deal with the devil, and by devil I mean robot devil. The robot devil said Fry would spin a wheel with every robot in the world's name on it and whichever robot it landed on he would switch Fry's hands with that unlucky robot's.

As Fry played the holophone amazingly Leela started seeing him in a different way, a more than just friend's way. The robot devil got his hands back after framing Caculon, Bender, and Leela. With barely any talent left Fry continued to play. The audience booed him and then left.

"Please don't stop playing Fry" said Leela, "I want to see how it ends."

So he kept playing. A hologram of Fry and Leela appeared. They leaned in and kissed, and walked away together in the full moon lit sky.

After long anticipation of what happened next Fry put down his holophone and Leela walked up to the stage.

Leela walked to Fry and took his hands in hers, "Fry that was so beautiful."

"So are you" said Fry.

Leela wrapped her arms around Fry's neck as Fry put his hands on her back. They kissed passionately but in a matter of time the moment was ruined.

"Seems we forgot about you chums" said Bender.

"How did it work out?" he winked.

"Great… until you guys ruined the moment" replied Leela.

The Planet Express crew exited the opera house. Tiny Tim was still attempting to sell newspapers with the heading "World's Worst Opera" on the streets.

"Anyone up for pizza?" asked Fry.

"Yeah, I'm hungry myself" replied Amy.

"Will there be oysters dipped in gravy on the pizza?" questioned Dr. Zoidberg.

"Um, sure" replied Fry.

They walked to the Pizza Garden but before they got there they saw a familiar sight on the streets of New New York.

It was a blonde haired girl lying sideways by a curb. She looked to be around sixteen or seventeen.

"Isn't she a little young to be lying there stoned in the gutter?" asked Bender.

"I don't think she's stoned" said Leela, "Maybe she's hurt."

Fry tapped the girls shoulder trying to wake her up.

"Are you alright?" he asked.

"Huh?" the girl groaned rubbing her eyes. "My head hurts a lot."

The girl looked up. "Oh wow, Fry it's you!"
