Author's Note: Hi! Many of you don't know me, as this is my first fanfic for the PJO series, but I am in fact a huge fan. I would like to start by stating the obvious: I do not own Percy Jackson or any of its characters. These words, however, are mine. Please enjoy!

"AHHHMMMM!" I yawned, stretching out my arms. That was a nice nap. I laid there in my bunk for a minute before getting up to go to training.

I was just getting dressed when there was a knock on the door. I could only think of one person who would be visiting the Poseidon cabin in the middle of the day…

"Hey, Annabeth," I greeted my best friend as I opened the door. She was wearing her usual Camp Half-Blood t-shirt with some denim shorts, but she looked like a ten to me. I blushed as I compared her stunning appearance to my bed head and rumpled clothes.

She must've noticed it too. "Did I wake you up?" She asked, eyebrows raised. "You shouldn't be sleeping so late in the day, Percy. It'll ruin your sleep cycles, and you'll be falling asleep at capture the flag tomorrow morning."

Yeah. Leave it to Annabeth to be worried about capture the flag. I decided to ignore the last part of her lecture. "No, you didn't wake me up. I was already getting dressed when you knocked."

"Well, hurry up. We're going to be late for training; Chiron sent me to get you."

"Fine, bossy pants." She huffed away, and I shut the door behind her. As soon as the hinges hit, a goofy smile spread across my face. Seeing Annabeth always did that to me. "'Chiron sent me to find you', my butt," I muttered to myself as I finished getting ready.

You see, I knew Annabeth liked me, too. She acted the same around me as I did around her, which is saying something for Annabeth.

When I was fully clothed and had brushed my hair and teeth (no, not with the same brush!) I walked down to the training field to find Annabeth waiting for me.

"It's about time," she smirked, pulling on her armor. "Everyone else is paired up; we'll have to be partners."

"Wouldn't we have been partners anyways?"

She sighed. "Most likely. Just put on your armor and shut up."

I did as she said and we got in position to fight.

We both paused to see who would make the first move. I didn't have to wait long. Annabeth, taking the initiative as always, slung her sword through the air. She would've taken my head off f I hadn't blocked it with Riptide.

I using the grip I had on her sword, I twisted her arm behind her back and forced her to her knees. I thought I had it won until she kicked up, hitting me in the gut. Riptide flew across the field.

I fell backwards on the ground, the breath knocked out of me. "Uggghh!" I grunted, holding my stomach. I writhed on the ground, trying to regain my breath.

"Percy?" Annabeth's face appeared above me, a worried look in her eyes. "Are you okay?"

I didn't respond for a minute. Then I felt Riptide reappear in my pocket.

"HA!" I sprung up, sword in hand, pinning Annabeth to the ground with my sword at her neck."

"What the-" She looked absolutely stunned. "You little cockroach!" She shrieked at me.

I wasn't bothered. I looked her in the eye with a smirk on my face. "Never let your opponent distract you."

For once, she was speechless. I pulled her up. "Let's go to dinner."

She glared at me. "I hope you choke."

"Try not to rush over to assist me if I do."

She gave me her most withering glare. "You don't need to worry about that."

"I-I'm sorry?"

She looked at me for a second. "I guess I forgive you." She sighed at me puppy dog eyes. "Fine! I forgive you. Let's go, Seaweed Brain."

Like I said, I know Annabeth likes me, too… She just hates to be distracted.
