Lifeless Emeralds

Severus Snape stares at her prone body, sobs racking his frame. He can't believe that it came to this. He looks into her lifeless emerald eyes and curses himself for eternity – it's all his fault. He was the one who told his Master about the prophecy, and Voldemort murdered Lily in cold blood. Even when Severus begged him to spare her and he promised, he realizes now, as he continues to look into her beautiful green eyes, that those promises were empty. He puts a hand on her cheek, drawing away immediately – it's so cold! "Oh God, I'm so sorry," he weeps brokenly, tears streaming down his sallow face. As the minutes tick by, and he goes on looking into her lifeless emeralds, he knows that he's damned for all time. He has lost her forever, and he will always be haunted by her ghost. And he's the one to blame.
