It's All For the Best

Disclaimer: Characters (Sakura, Syaoran, Touya, Tomoyo, etc) belong to CLAMP. The theme belongs to the producers of Korean Drama "All About Eve".

I saw "All About Eve" over the summer, and I fell in love with it. The plots and story line were incredible, and it was all so addictive too! ^^ One day it suddenly occurred to me that Sakura was very much like Sun-Mi. Fatherless, kinda air-headish, sweet, kind, but still a strong independent person. Enjoy, and please R+R!

Sakura and Tomoyo are 18 and about to start college. Touya is in the USA.

-blah blah blah- are thoughts = alsfdj = are places

Introduction

Tears silently streaming down her face, Yumi whimpered as she stood by her father's sickbed in the hospital. She thought of how he had always beaten her for the slightest mistake or fault, and how her mother, who she had always been very close to and idolized, had abandoned her and her father by running off with another man when she was only seven. She grasped her father's hand tightly, for a moment forgiving him for everything he had done. He squeezed her hand hard, and looked at her pleadingly.

"I'm . . . sorry, . . . Yumi . . . for . . . "

His grasp loosened, and Yumi watched, eyes wide with horror, as his eyes went blank and the heart monitor by his flatlined.

She sank to the ground on her knees, still staring at his still body. "No . . . no . . . no!!" she screamed, then let her head drop onto the bed, muffling her cries and shutting out his vacant stare.

Sakura surveyed the dinner table full of food with satisfaction. Tomoyo glanced at it, also, and groaned.

"Ah, Sakura, the sight of all this yummy food is torturing me. Because I have to run now. My mother wants me to meet some very important guests over dinner. She said they might sponsor my clothes line!" Her eyes sparkled in excitement.

Sakura wailed, "You're going to leave before my father gets back? But, but, you were supposed to stay, and meet that girl with me!"

Tomoyo eyed the dinner table again. She picked up a tasty looking piece of tempura shrimp and munched on it apologetically. "Sorry, Sakura. I guess it slipped my mind, and I agreed before I remembered about the guests. But at least I helped you with the food, ne?" She gestured at the table with a piece of shrimp. "Your dad better get home before Kero's finished with his video game and gets a whiff of these dishes!" With that, she grabbed another handful of the shrimp, and with her cheeks bulging, started for the door. "Gurd luck, Shakura. Bah!"

Sakura sighed and looked at the table. Only half of the tempura shrimp remained. She shook her head and allowed herself a teeny smile before going up to her room to change.

Fujitaka glanced at the silent girl beside him in the passenger seat. Her eyes were slightly swollen and rimmed with red. Her father had been one of the workers at his company. Because he had been the only family she had, and they lived a poor life, he was inclined, out of sympathy and pity, to take the girl in and get her a place of her own, so she could start her own life on two feet.

Yumi blankly stared out the window, deep in her thoughts. -Everything is going to change now. I will forget about my old life. Nothing from that life exists, starting from now. I will have a goal, and nothing is going to stop me from reaching it.- Her eyes narrowed.

This is just the intro. I'll get started on chapter one as soon as I can. R+R and thanks for reading!
