A/N Sorry for any grammar mistakes. This can be seen as a companion piece to Blind Spot, someone asked for a sequel where they got together. I'm not so good at that, but I tried.
She was generally a cheerful person, if not serious at times. Considering who was on her team she had to have a little bit of both.
Today she was not.
Not serious, nor cheerful, she was downright exhausted and frustrated.
And she had missed morning coffee.
Tenten had very few bad days, in fact she hadn't had a bad day since those fateful hours three years ago when her teammates had thrown themselves into a fight they could've died in.And had left her behind.
Stalking along the street she swore silently as a crowd of people flooded out of the marketplace, blocking her way to their training spot.
Swearing again she turned around to go the long way.
Now she was late. Goddamn.
Rounding the bend she arrived half an hourbehind schedule to greeta pacing Hyuuga Neji. He turned around and opened his mouth to speak.
She threw a glare at him; there was no need for translations between them.
He closed his mouth and made his was to the center of the field lowering into the Hyuuga's special fighting stance. Opening tired eyes she skittered off into the surrounding forests, making a nest in the trees she knew so well. Tenten's eyes peered outand spotted him moving through the grass, his Byakugan activated.
Neji felt the flutter of movement more than he actually saw it. Weapons of mass destruction flew out of the forest attaching to the ground around him. He began to spin into his defense before he noticed that none of the weapons had come close to him. He waited in anticipation, tensing his muscles. Sweat ran down his brow as he waited for something to happen, like an exploding note attached to her horde of weapons, but nothing came. Remaining alert, he made his way over to where the motion originated. In a normal situation Tenten would have already moved on to hide from him.. Then again, Neji's definition of normal was different from others. Instead of finding the empty space he expected he discovered snoring and closed eyes. Also lashes fluttering against soft tan cheeks, chocolate brown hair dangerously close to falling out of messily done buns, and coarse hands folded gently over a rhythmic stomach.
Tenten awoke to the sun falling over the giant mountains surrounding Konohagakure. She opened her bloodshot eyes to a sleeping Neji who was sitting up against a tree on the edge of the forest. Pieces of grass were tangled in her hair, hair that had long been conformed to a state of messy strands. Brushing her hair away from her shoulders she attempted to crawl over to Neji and wake him up.He interrupted her, snapping his eyes openat the first sign of shuffling. He calmly looked at her as if assessing the damage, while Tenten had jumped a mileat the sudden movement.
'You would thinkI would've gotten used to that.'
Making his way towards her he grabbed her chin, lifting it up and gently pulling it side to side.
She made a small niose of protest and growled, "What are you doing!", the sleep helped, but she was still caffeine deprived for the day.
He grunted, as if that sufficed for an answer.
Long pale fingers ran over her cheek and neck, checking for injury and his head leaned closer to a smudge of dirt on her nose.
Blood rushed to Tenten's head like never before and she wondered if his eyes could see her blush. Words failed her and she could only gape silently. With quiet wonder he leaned, tentively touching her lips to his. Her eyes widened and she shifted into him.
She could blame it on the lack of caffeine later.
