Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter.
Honestly, this is an idea that I had while listening to Taylor Swift's album, Fearless. It's not exactly a song-fic, but merely inspired by the songs. I hope to have a song inspired by each song of the album, and I have yet to decide if the one-shots will be in the same universe, chronological order, or anything else. They will probably each by rather short, and all that I do know is that they will all be Hermione/Draco.
Please let me know what you think.
Hermione Granger smiled lightly as she watched the sun peek out from behind a cloud. It had been raining for the past few hours. There was a rainbow glittering on the silver of the storm clouds and it made her think about the times when she would run in the rain as a child.
Looking away from the window, the brunette turned to her work partner and asked, "Would you mind helping me with these boxes? I have far to many files to take home for the weekend." The gentleman nodded and picked up the whole stack.
Draco Malfoy didn't talk much to Hermione while they were working. The pair had both returned to Hogwarts to complete their education and became study partners. Now, five years later they were friends and colleagues. The Magical Law Enforcement office at the Ministry of Magic had not encountered such a lethal pair in nearly a century. Perhaps it was the way that their personalities contrasted and complimented each other.
None of their workmates knew that the pair would usually leave work together, returning to either Hermione's house or Draco's flat. They would consume half a bottle of firewhiskey together and talk about the past and their plans for the future. They were each other's best friend but they didn't feel the need to make it public knowledge.
Neither of the pair knew that the other haboured feelings for the other either. Hermione would sneak looks at Draco as he drove them to the bar on a Friday night, and Draco would mask his affections by keeping his expression cool and impassive. Little did he know that it just made her want him more.
"Draco?" Hermione said quietly, feeling a couple of raindrops fall upon her curly hair. It was starting to rain and they had yet to reach her car on the quiet muggle street. Suddenly the heavens let loose and rain even heavier than earlier began to pour. She couldn't help the laugh that escaped her mouth and she quickly became saturated.
Draco place the boxes carefully on the back seat of the woman's car, closing the door to keep the rain out. When he turned around, his lips couldn't contain the smile that spread across his face. There was the most beautiful girl he'd ever laid eyes on, spinning in circles causing her hair to fan out around her. He slowly approached her, and was surprised when she stopped and grabbed his hands. "Dance with me, Draco!" She said, pulling him into circles.
By the time Hermione had sat in the driver's seat of her car, she was wet to the bone but a warmth that had not left her since Draco's touch kept her from becoming cold. She pulled onto the road and drove home with her thoughts filled completely with grey eyes and a contagious smile.
