Disclaimer: I obviously own no part of the Rurouni Kenshin series; Kenshin's character just inspired me.
CLUELESS ASSASSIN
I did not realize the price I would pay
When I killed my soul for Japan's noble cause.
I brought the rain to the Kyoto night,
The crimson rain, falling still.
I was young when I committed my gravest sin,
The path of atonement stretching before me.
The blood of the slain cries out to me,
Calling the name their kindred gave.
The arms of the dead reach out to welcome,
The blood scent lingers, the stain remains.
I stand upon the edge of a sword,
People refuse to forget what I was,
Dredging my past once more before me.
I most of all refuse to forgive:
Battousai, the clueless assassin.
Drowning in remorse over the blood I have spilt,
I search for redemption but never find it
And would not accept it even if I did.
