An early morning mist coated the cemetery as a lone mourner made it's way through the rows of headstones. He stormed steadily down the path, unmoved by either the chill left over from the evening rain nor the silence of the place. Finally, it stopped in front of a white marble one, it's sides engraved with white roses.
For a few minutes the stranger stared at the words in silence, then he sunk to one knee and carefully laid a bouquet of blue roses upon the tomb.
"Hello there, old friend. How long have it been since we last met?" There was a pause as he gave a humourless smile. "Three years I believe. Since the funeral…wherever you are. I hope you are finally at rest."
He reached out to tack back a stray lock of green hair then continued to stare at the grave. His silent contemplation was interrupted when he felt something cool sliding gently down one cheek. One hand came up to brush at the moisture and was surprised to see it come away wet.
'Tears? Am I crying? For him? No, this can't be right. I should be happy-he got what he wanted. To be a knight for his princess, dying for his dream, his ladylove. But then, what is this then?'
Catching his reflection in a small puddle on his left, Saionji realised that there were twin streams of tears trailing steadily from the sides of his face.
"I should be happy, you fulfilled your dream." Saionji whispered to himself but even to his ears, his voice didn't carry any conviction
Saionji raised his head, searching for answers to his question. A gloved hand came up to slowly finger the name carved on the headstone. " Tsuchiya Ruka died a happy man, didn't you?"
