The Bonefreezer

Chapter 1: The frozen wastes.

The cold. It was the first thing he noticed, the bitter chill that bit down to the bone. His chainmail freezing stiff made it hard to trudge through the thick snow, the chain links conjoined with frost. They were always covered with snow, since the first day that they arrived it did not stop snowing. Day after day, it snowed. Thick white blankets covered them whenever they were in the open. "Damn its cold..." Krad managed to say with his helmet distorting the sound. "what!" shouted the Liutenant over the sound of the howling perpetual blizzard. "I said, damn its cold!" Krad bellowed back without even looking behind to his Lieutenant. "maybe if you would've listened to your liutenant and actually stopped to make camp none of this would be happening!" ,the Lieutenant shouted back. Loboz laughed; sounding more like a raspy, pain filled gurgle. The broken arrow in his ribcage was'nt helping. Loboz: the groups resident rogue Gilnean, was a tall man who wore a leather helmet over his head ,attached to the helmet was pieces of cloth closing up holes that formed over countless skirmishes in the past, the others thought it was to keep out the cold. His helmet hid his face completely only exposing his blueish-voilet eyes on the front. "I hate this place" he weezed, "huh...is the cold getting to mon-stah?." querried the Elf sarcastically, her sweet voice always filled with venom. He smiled, "not as much as you are...Knife ears." The Lieutenant smiled overhearing the conversation. Suddenly...Krad made a gesture and they froze, the cold wind chewed at them but they didn't even tremble. He followed his hand signal with another for "weapons free". Krad unhooked his shield and unsheathed his prized short sword. The sword was encrusted with a long detailed pattern of a city running vertically up the blade. The guard was golden and the hilt was smooth, the blade glowed slightly green. "The sword of Emerald Kingdom" he had called it. He would need for what came at him next.
