ME: I only watched the first ten minutes or so of that Last Airbender movie on YouTube and I STILL felt ripped off.
They couldn't pronounce Aang and Sokka's names? Seriously? I'm not that big of a fan but that seriously pissed me off.
Hopefully they won't screw up an adaptation for Korra.
The Unifiers were a diverse bunch. Some were from the polar regions and thus were of Water Tribe descent. Some were of the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom. Some of the gray-uniformed Troopers could bend, others could not use any of the four elements.
However, they were all dedicated to unifying the world under the URN and were led by a man known only as the Leader. Under the Leader they fought their enemies, pejoratively named, "Dividers."
Today the Leader was sitting in his office as someone knocked. "Come in."
Five people entered. The tallest of the bunch was his second-in-command and military advisor, General Sonam. An airbender whose ancestors survived Fire Lord Sozin's Genocide, he was a bulky man and regularly shaved his head for both cultural and hygienic reasons.
Standing beside him was Captain Zanna, the leader of the elite Balancer Squad and his field commander. Her short black hair brought out her ice blue eyes, while her uniform was clean and neat. She was a top-notch firebender and junior officer.
Next was Lieutenant Shangmu, her number two on Balancer. Unlike Zanna his uniform lacked shirtsleeves, showing off his arms. An experienced metalbender, he had grown up on the streets of Republic City after leaving his Police family for being the proverbial black sheep and had earned an eyepatch along with facial scarring. He kept his hair short in a buzzcut, and was arguably the most temperamental of the Squad.
Corporal Kiko was their waterbender. An orphan who finally found a home in the Unifiers, he was the least aggressive of the Balancers and preferred healing to combat. He kept his hair in a pony tail, something Shangmu and Zanna teased him relentlessly for.
Mai Lee II was the only non-bender on the Squad, but far from useless. A former Kyoshi Warrior and one of Ty Lee's 49 granddaughters, she had a colorful past as a high class muscle woman and now worked for him. Mai Lee II was the best when it came to driving, as well as close quarters combat.
"Sir," Sonam said.
"At ease, General." The Leader got up and put his hand on Sonam's shoulder. "I have gifts for all of you for your service."
He handed out an envelope. The airbender ripped it open.
"Five tickets to the premiere of the Last Airbender?" Zanna raised her eyebrows at this.
"I suggest changing into civilian clothing before going out tomorrow," said the Leader. "Enjoy."
Much later, the five walked to the Pro-Bending Arena. Dressed in civilian clothing as suggested, they passed the security checkpoint and sat down to watch the mover.
"What?!" Zanna yelled loudly. "That stupid girl can't even pronounce Sokka's name right?"
Sonam silenced her; he was irritated too, but the General did not want to attract attention.
"Wait, are they keeping earthbenders imprisoned that way?" Kiko asked. "With dirt beneath them?"
Shangmu snorted. "Yeah, why don't we have Chief Beifong put a knife factory in the local jail?" A chorus of grunts indicated this was becoming the majority opinion.
"I want to kill whoever wrote this garbage," Mai Lee II complained.
By the end of the mover, no one remained in the Arena.
