Sticky Fingers

Michonne thought she was used to a baby's sticky fingers after having to clean Andre up one too many times. However, walking into the family room from the kitchen, she realized she had seen nothing yet. Leaving Judith only a few minutes before with the red plastic cups the baby seemed to adore, she could not have predicted what she would find when she came to check on her.

Judith had somehow reached the coffee table, pulled herself up, and dug her fingers into the honey that was a rarity in their world now. Not only was the honey smattered between her fingers, but it was also in the process of becoming entangled within her hair. Overcoming the momentary horror at such a sight, her maternal instincts kicked into overdrive, and she stooped down to pick up the child.

"What have you done?" Michonne whispered. "Shh, don't tell your Daddy. We'll blame it on Carl."

Judith seemed to be in agreement with that plan, and happily squealed as Michonne carried her up the stairs and into the bathroom. Making sure the baby was fastened in her baby seat before she started the bath, she shook her head in amusement when she discovered a small rubber duck that bore more physical evidence of being demolished by the baby.

"Sticky fingers?" Jumping when that unexpected voice pierced her heart, she turned to see Rick standing in the doorway, one eye directed at his daughter, and the other at his girlfriend. A knowing smile was firm on his face, his hand on his holster.

How does he do that? Michonne thought. "To be fair, I was only trying to get her formula, and-"

"Carl did the same thing when he was that age," Rick replied. "He took it one step further, and smeared butter all over his head. I thought my mother-in-law would pass out, she was so mad."

"Judith's cute looks make up for it," Michonne replied.

"Yeah, that's true."

Turning her attention to the baby, Michonne lifted her up from her seat, and placed her in the bathtub. Not particularly liking the fact that she was about to be washed of the honey that was coating her body, Judith splashed her arms erratically, causing both Michonne and Rick to soon be covered in soapy water.
