Prologue
He's had quite an interesting life, to say the least.
He was born in the late night of July 3rd, just a few minutes before the strike of midnight at 11:56, in a house on the border of Canada and America. And his parents named him Matthew. Matthew Bonnefoy. He was technically born in Canada, as his parents, Jeanne and Francis, were on the Canadian side of the house when he was born.
Six minutes later, his twin brother, Alfred, was born, at 12:02, this time on the American side of the house. Neither parent was expecting twins. However, Francis wanted to keep them. Jeanne felt she wasn't ready. They wound up keeping Alfred and Matthew, although the two got into fights a lot in the days after the twins were born.
Then, tragedy struck the family. On her way to work two weeks after the twin's birth, Jeanne died in a car crash. While he was glad he got to keep the twins, Francis became depressed after his wife and lover's death. It was a long path to recovery. After two and a half years of taking emotional therapy and anti-depressant drugs, he got better.
Francis was a romantic Frenchman. Very romantic. He could go up to pretty much any girl on the street and begin flirting with her. But it was during his last six months of therapy that he realized something important. Lately, at his new job, he was falling for both women and men. And he proudly began calling himself bisexual and a member of the LGBT+ community.
After his therapy was completed, he got the chance to go to England on a business trip, where they got to work with workers of the company's English branch. The twins were being cared for back in America, where they had moved to tiny but populated World X Island, so he didn't have anything to worry about.
It was on that business trip in England that he met Arthur Kirkland, a stubborn Englishman who Francis couldn't help falling for. Arthur didn't exactly appreciate his company at first, but grew to like him. And sure enough, by the time the two weeks in England were up, Francis and Arthur were dating each other.
Before Francis headed back to America, though, they exchanged phone numbers, addresses, and emails. Over the course of a year, the two were flying back and forth, back and forth between America and England to visit each other. And with each trip, their relationship got better and better. Arthur actually had a pretty soft and romantic side if you knew how to find it.
And it was during one of these trips to England that Francis proposed to Arthur at a charming French restaurant in London. He accepted graciously, and the long countdown to their wedding began. Arthur moved to World X Island in America, into the apartment where Francis and the twins lived.
Six months after the proposal in London, and when Alfred and Matthew were four, Arthur
and Francis got married on gorgeous Flag Beach on World X, one of the best places for a wedding on the island. They are happily married to this day.
Fast-forward 11 years. Matthew is currently 15, along with Alfred. The happy Kirkland-Bonnefoy family still lives in the same apartment on World X. The twins attend World X Academy, nicknamed Hetalia Academy, downtown.
The twins are also about to go through a romantic time, where friendship is tested, along with handling bullies, their bond with one another, and, of course, crushes and lovers. Whether it's a gay or straight relationship they're in, it will always be perfect love. Of course, it all may be more than Matthew and Alfred bargained for...
