An Allegory
[Enter Duo and Heero]Duo: Today, for reckoning, I call upon this man Heero, the one and only, so that his soul and actions may be judged.
Heero: So I am to die then?
Duo: Perhaps, but Death may wait our your judgment.
Heero: Very well. For I have nothing to fear, proceed.
[Enter Wufei]
Wufei: Heero, you are charged with the many lives taken by your gun, and your sword. These actions, which should be spared for all but Death, would speak for themselves on the nature of your soul. What say you?
Heero: I say my actions were justified. All lives taken were in the name of my cause; I took them because I was ordered to do so.
[Enter Trowa and Noin]
Trowa: Justice, do you not see that he was merely dedicated to his mission? He was only following orders.
Wufei: I see his dedication. What about to his people, and not simply his orders?
Noin: He was loyal to the end. He always had the people in mind.
[Enter Une]
Une: This may be justified, but there must be balance. Justice, if you will...?
Wufei: Certainly.
[Enter Relena and Zechs]
Relena: I speak for innocence, and I say that Heero has taken me away from not only those he has killed, but from those he has hurt, and from those who have witnessed what he has done.
Une: This brings balance to his dedication. What else?
Zechs: Heero, did you not feel anger towards the people you were sworn to protect and liberate? For they betrayed you, and turned their backs on your deeds, good and bad. Did you not want to take revenge?
Heero: I felt that anger, and it would have taken me, but I kept dedication and loyalty in mind.
Une: Can this be justified?
Wufei: What else do you have, that may justify your actions?
[Enter Treize]
Treize: He was prideful, I say, in that though he did not take it in taking lives, but in he did so for his people. Does this justify the lives on his soul?
[Enter Quatre]
Quatre: I say he had the courage and strength to take action, where no one else would! He tried to be merciful, and spare as many as possible--
Trowa: But he was dedicated--
Noin: And loyal, to the end.
Relena: Despite taking innocence?
Zechs: Despite feeling anger?
Treize: Despite feeling pride?
Quatre: Yes!
Une: An odd balance. It seems Heero, the one and only, tried to accommodate for every aspect of this.
Wufei: Final judgment is not with justice itself, but with the man that acted.
[Everyone but Heero and Duo exit]
Heero: You called upon me to be judged, yet you gave no say in all of it. What say you?
Duo: You once tread upon my territory, but my own judgment is not for you.
Heero: Shall you then take my life, for balance and justice?
Duo: That will be decided upon your own, for as I said, Death may wait.
Heero: Then to live with all my sins and good deeds I must. This is justice.
