Quite The Opposite

"Take my hand."

Carlos Garcia grinned as Stephanie King looked at him with a raised eyebrow. Finally, her lips twitched and they bloomed into a smile as she took his hand and allowed him to lead her across the beach. The two had been hanging out with their friends that day, but eventually the group seemed to have split up into couples. Kendall and Jo, Logan and Camille, James and some girl he met on the beach, and her and Carlos.

Not that she minded.

"Where are we going Carlos?" she asked with a playful smile on her lips. Her hair whipped around her face in the brisk fall breeze, the two of them wearing light blazers over their clothes as they sauntered down the sand. The cool wind caused a shiver to run up and down her spine. "Carlos?" she asked again since he had not responded the first time, only grabbed her hand and pulled her around a play set.

"Steph, when are you gonna learn to trust me?" Carlos asked in reply, not turning around to face her, afraid that the look on his face would give him away.

She smiled coyly; she didn't trust him. She could never trust him. They wound their way down the path; smooth pebbles underneath their feet, and the sound of waves hitting the shoreline were all they could think about.

You could say that they were only teens, barely legal to drink, barely legal for anything. Her eyes stung as the wind picked up, she focused on his back.

"Seriously-" she began, being cut off abruptly by his command.

"Turn right." He spoke harsher than she had ever heard him do before. It startled her, but she wasn't about to let him get away with it. They turned right and continued to head along the beach.

"Lose the tone mister," she told him, sticking out her tongue before following his command. Carlos chuckled in reply and pulled her against him, causing Stephanie to grin, enjoying the feeling. She was almost convinced that there was really no place that they were going.

"I… would it…" Carlos sighed and moved back a few steps so he could look Stephanie in the eye, "would it ruin your day if… if I kissed you?"

Carlos had turned towards her and his face showed great uncertainty, but his eyes were dark and sincere. In opening and closing her mouth, Stephanie only managed to get out a few soft sounds. She tilted my head back to the sky before she regained the ability to speak.

"Quite the opposite, actually." Stephanie bit her lip in an effort to keep from grinning too widely. Her mind squirmed with rushing thoughts.

Hopeful thoughts.

"'Kay," he breathed.

In a matter of moments, he moved closer, placing his lips onto hers, ever so gently. Butterflies flitted in Stephanie's stomach and a feeling of elation swelled in her chest. And, seemingly too soon, he pulled away. As she gazed into his sparkling dark eyes, there was no holding back her grin.

She was beaming with delight.

So was he.

They turned around to go back to the others, but with their hands clasped tighter than ever. He stroked the back of her hand with his thumb.

Looking back to the skies, she laughed.

He laughed too.

A/N: Don't you guys just LOVE Carlos and Stephanie together. I think she's my favorite secondary character in the show. Anyway, I hope you guys liked it.
