A/N: This is my original poem, "The Ballad of Magax" that I wrote not too long ago and submitted to Neopets. I won the Poetry contest for this, so you can also find this poem at the Neopets site (I originally wrote it to put here, but I decided to try the poetry competition). This was originaly in a ballad format (four lines per verse, abab format), but here, it's in a different format with all the spaces. So enjoy! The Ballad of Magax
I shall remain here until the end,
Protecting the souls in the graves beneath me,
And those who walk on this hollowed ground,
Will soon come to know and fear me,
For I am not just another shade,
This world condemned to my presence,
And I am not dark and vengeful like Eliv Thade,
I'm just trapped in my own existence,
Haunted by memories past,
Recalling when my heart was engulfed by evil and rage,
Hoping that possibly someday at last,
I would be the most powerful of the age,
But you know the saying you reap what you sow
And centururies ago, I was sent spiraling into darkness,
And I paid for all the pain and the sorrow,
I was to be eternally damned because of my wretchedness,
My soul was taken by the faeries sublime,
They said that since evil was my intent,
I would remain with those I wronged for all time,
Their souls to be guarded by the one they resent,
For many ages I was bitter and cold,
I felt that they were wrong in thier assessment
Until one day the truth I was told,
Then I realized I deserved my punishment
So here I am, forsaken, forlorn,
Drifting forever in an existence I detest,
And now my heart is eternally torn,
Knowing that my tired soul will never be at rest.
