Songfic set to 'Lips Of An Angel' by Hinder. MayaEdgeworth, because it is my OTP and there needs to be more pairings aside from PhoenixEdgeworth on this site. (Not that I have anything against that pairing, but it's everywhere.) This is my first story so please R&R. Also, if you haven't heard the song please learn the lyrics before reading so you enjoy it more.
Disclaimer: I don't own Phoenix Wright. Capcom does. I also don't own the song 'Lips of an Angel' by Hinder, I just used the lyrics in this story.

Lips of an Angel 3
Miles Edgeworth sat in his bedroom, leaning back in an armchair. His eyes were closed tightly as he was deep in thought... thoughts about her.
All of a sudden his cell phone rang, causing him to jump a bit. The last thing he expected to hear at this time of night was the obnoxious beeping of his cell phone. It was past 11:30 PM already.
"Hello, Miles Edgeworth speaking." He said in his usual monotone business voice.
"Miles?" A female voice on the other line asked softly. "It's me..."
Edgeworth's eyes widened with surprise. He took the phone, quickly moved to the far corner of the room and crouched down on the floor. "Maya?" He whispered, dropping the professional, business-like tone and adopting a softer, kinder one. "Why are you calling so late?"
"I..." Maya said with a sigh. "Sorry. I just needed someone to talk to. Is this a bad time?"
"Yeah. It's kind of hard to talk right now." Edgeworth said. "Hey... are you crying? Is everything OK?" He whispered, concern still showing in his quiet voice. He couldn't be too loud or she would hear.
Maya bit her lip. Was it that obvious she was crying? "It's OK... I'm just... lonely." She said. She felt like she was about to cry even more. "Um anyway!" She said quickly to change the subject. "Lemme guess. You can't talk because of Franziska, right?"
Edgeworth nodded. "Yeah. She's in the next room." He said quietly. For a moment he wondered why he was even seeing Franziska in the first place. Edgeworth and Maya had been dating for about a year. Everything was going great... until Franziska came to America. She had demanded more time with Miles, which meant less time he got to spend with Maya. They kind of just drifted apart after that, and eventually Franziska took Miles back with her to Germany. He had completely forgot about Maya, until recently when the guilt kept creeping up on him. Now he couldn't stop thinking about her.
He dreamt of her, too.
Ironicly he only had these dreams when he was with Franziska.
"Sometimes..." He said, sighing longingly. "I wish she was you."
Maya gasped. "Miles!" She said, shocked. "You don't mean that!"
"But I do." He said, feeling more guilty by the minute. "I guess we never really moved on."
"Miles..." Maya whispered, her voice sounding like she was about to break down in tears any minute.
He closed his eyes. "Your voice... when you say my name like that it sounds so sweet." He didn't know exactly what he was saying, romance definitely wasn't his forte. But he could tell that he said something right. It was obvious she was blushing from the silence.
"Um... I... I..." She was stuttering. He had ever seen confident, perky Maya act this way before. She obviously had no idea what to say. "So... does Franziska know you're talking to me?" That was the first thing she could think of, and she had to do something to break the silence.
"No, we'd start a fight if she found out." He said. And Franziska's fights usually involved him getting whipped several times. "Don't worry though. I don't think she has a clue."
"I see..." Maya said. She closed her eyes. "Miles... when we're talking like this, I never wanna say goodbye." She said shyly. Edgeworth smiled.
"Neither do I." He said, sighing deeply. "It's hard to be faithful to Franziska when i'm not really in love with her."
"Especially when I'm talking to a girl with the lips of an angel."
