First and Last-One shot [SK
She hadn't really stood out on the first day- just another Japanese girl bustling through the school hallways. Of course, back then he had no idea what he was getting himself into.
"You can sit down, you know," she told him. There was a quirk to her lips, and an amused spark in her eyes.
"I prefer to stand," he replied in the same voice he always used- monotone, quiet, and indifferent.
She knew better, though.
"Stop that!" She scolded him, slapping his hand lightly away from her hair. He was trying to take it out of the braid again, as always. For some reason he disliked her hair being tied up in any fashion.
"Must you insist having your hair restrained? I see no purpose in it."
"Yes, I mind. And there is a very good purpose actually; it keeps it from falling in my face when I'm doing something."
"If you insist on having it behind your ears when you work, just ask. I shall assist you."
She raised an eyebrow. "You're going to hold my hair back for me while I do my homework?"
"Hn."
A laugh sounded lightly through the bright room and a smile lite her face. "Alright then, as long as you stop confiscating my elastic bands. I'm really starting to run low."
There was a boy talking to her. He seemed to be trying to win her favour, smiling and lightly touching her arm.
He didn't like it at all. A snarl sounded from his mouth, lip curling in distaste. What did this pathetic boy want with her? He wasn't good enough for her. He would make sure that he never came near her again.
"You know, I would've turned Hojo down. He's harmless, really."
"Hn."
"It's kind of flattering to think that you were jealous though."
A sharp glance- and then finally: "Hn."
His father suddenly decided that Tokyou no longer held in interest for him. They were moving to Osaka, in a wealthier district.
There was nothing he could do about it. She would not be happy.
"So that's it then. You're leaving next week."
"Yes."
"I guess…I don't know what to say. We would've graduated together this year."
"Hn."
"I…I'll be sure to think of you when I'm up there getting my diploma and giving the valdedvictorian speech, then." She attempted to smile at her joke, and failed.
"Indeed."
He was 28 now. An accomplished busniessmen, and the Vice President of his father's company. They were down in Tokyo this week to go over some contracts with one of their business partners.
He hadn't expected to run into her; it had not even entered his mind that she might still be living in Tokyo.
"Sesshoumaru."
"Kagome."
"Long time no see;" A smile- hesitant at first, then genuine.
Back then, he had no idea what he was getting himself into.
Fin.
