Beep! Beep! Beep! Be-SLAM!
The alarm's loud noise echoed through the young female's room, causing her to frown in her sleep. For she was having a good dream and didn't want to be woken up from it. But the damn thing wasn't shutting off anytime soon, so the girl grabbed the fan that always laid beside her and threw it at the device. Hearing the satisfying crack of the alarm's base and the silence of its persistent blaring, the fan boomeranged back to the hand of its owner. As she set the object back by her person, the young female drifted back to dreamland.
"YUMI~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!" A voice wailed at the top of their lungs.
The sudden noise fully jerked Yumi from dreamland and she bolted up right. Her hand quickly moved to hold her head, groaning from the sudden headache she required from getting up to fast. After her mind got back on track and the headache subsided, Yumi's ear picked up muffled snickering. Looking up, the Japanese-French-American spotted her younger brother Hiroki holding his side and covering his mouth. Yumi suspected he hadn't been up long telling from the fact he was still in his pajamas, which consisted of a simple white shirt and blue, gray, and white plaid pants.
Seeing his sister rise from her futon, Hiroki stopped laughing and ran to his room, barely escaping his sister's wrath as she banged on his door seconds after he closed it.
"I'm going to kill you Hiroki!" Yumi screamed from the other side.
Sighing, the teenaged girl ceased her banging and retreated to the bathroom to commence her morning routine, after completing it, she arrived downstairs to find her and her brother's breakfast already laid out on the table. Yumi didn't have to wonder where her parents were, as she heard their voices coming from the backyard.
As she sat down, beginning to eat her breakfast strawberries and cream oatmeal, Yumi felt a presence behind her and turned around. Standing at the edge of the kitchen counter, was Hiroki, staring at the simple wooden door that led to the backyard.
Yumi held her breath as she stood up and pulled her younger brother into an embrace, combing her fingers through his hair as he silently cried.
Lee Household
6: 30AM
The sun peeked through the drapes of a dark room, causing its resident to stubbornly pull his sea blue covers over his head. It was quiet for a moment until…
"GOOD MORNING RAY! ~"
Ray Ray Lee screamed in fear as he body jumped in the air, off his bed, and he landed on the floor. Screaming in pain, he covered his ears opening one eye to glare at his sister who was pressing the alarm thingy on her bull horn. As the sound stopped, Ray Ray dropped his hands from his ears and slammed his head on the floor. He was about to drift off back to sleep, until he was hoisted up by two strong hands and thrown into the hallway.
Smirking at her victory, Juniper Lee dusted off her hands and walked to the top of the stairs. "I woke him up!" She called down. After getting the list of morning chores from Ah-Mah, the Chinese-American sighed at the craziness of it and headed to the bathroom. When she saw her reflection she shrieked then leaned in closer.
"Man." Juniper stated as she lifted up a slit end. "I look terrible." She commented as she commenced her daily routine. After she was done taking a shower, she began to dress. Reaching into her closet, Juniper pulled out a modest green and red Chinese dress. As she began to put it on, the sound of hard core techno-rap music stopped her. Smiling to herself, Juniper ran over to her window and carefully peeked out the blinds.
When the blinds were open far enough for her to clearly see, Juniper's eyes shined when they set on the next door neighbor's window. There, shirtless, while using a towel to dry off his hair, was her handsome next-door neighbor. Juniper swooned when he removed it to reveal his spiky Black hair with green edges hair and black eyes. He had moved here from New York City a few months ago, and for Juniper, it was love at first sight. When she met him, it was after she bid farewell to her best friend Marcus Conner, whose family had moved to London.
Juniper was crying by herself in her backyard when a CD jumped over the fence that separated them from their neighbor's house. It landed at Juniper's feet, and when she listened to it, it calmed her nerves. Ever since then, whenever Juniper felt sad or frustrated, she would listen to the CD her neighbor gave her a few months ago.
However, when Juniper was finally able to speak with him, she had decided to cut off anything related to the boy. For he attended the academy of the blood rivals of her high school Cartoon High. Walt Disney Academy. Cartoon High and Walt Disney Academy were blood enemies for a long time. It all started with the first pair of principals. You see, the principals were married and the two schools were like family. There would always be events that brought the two schools together and strengthened their bond. Most students looked at their principal as a mother or father figure. However, one fateful day, the male principal of Walt Disney Academy was caught by his wife having an affair with one of his students. After hearing this Cartoon High cut all ties with Walt Disney Academy and from that day, both school's hated each other.
But, despite the knowledge that all people from WDA were heartless liars that couldn't be trusted, Juniper couldn't help but fall into a fatal attraction. She was so lost in her thoughts, she failed to notice the boy was staring at her window with a blank look on his face. When she did notice, Juniper immediately fled from her window and grabbed the trash from the kitchen.
"I'm off Ah-Mah!" She called as she rushed out of the door, slamming it behind her, and running all the way to her school.
Running at full speed, Juniper was panicking, the fear of the fact that her neighbor saw her peeking spreading through her mind. She almost didn't notice the gang up ahead of her.
Almost.
Juniper slowed down her pace, and watched the gang warily. It was then she noticed a small figure cowering in the midst of it. Seeing a glimpse of white blonde hair that were in two pig tails, June immediately figured that the person that was being harassed was Bubbles Utonium, the lead singer of the popular CH band The Powerpuff Girls with her older sisters Blossom and Buttercup. It was unusual to see Bubbles without them, since they never did anything without each other.
"So, you alone babe?" One of the guys asked.
"Are you on the way to school?" Another asked. "We could take you."
"If you don't mind a small detour." The tallest stated, placing a firm hand on a crying Bubbles shoulder.
June scowled. Bubbles was kinda a ditz, but she was a kind and respectable girl. How dare these punks try to take advantage of her?!
Storming up to the back of the gang, June karate chopped one in the neck causing him to fall on the ground unconscious.
The other guys whipped their heads around and looked at their fallen comrade.
"Oh your gonna pay for that, girly." One stated, lunging at June.
June smirked and cracked her knuckles.
XXXX
Bubbles smiled as she walked side by side with her friend June. "I'm so sorry." She apologized. "You wouldn't had to have gone through all that trouble if I just knew how to defend myself."
As the breeze blew June's hair to the left, the girl inwardly chuckled. Bubbles was actually crazy strong, the blonde just didn't know her own strength. One time a girl, Princess Morbucks she believed, jacked Bubble's back pack and pulled out a stuffed octopus. Apparently it was a childhood toy of Bubble's and she loved it dearly. Princess had made fun of her and ripped off one of the stuffed octopus' arms.
….Then spent a week in the hospital afterwards. And what impressed June the most was that Bubbles didn't even have to lay a finger on the girl. Talk about scared straight.
Waving her hand in dismissal, June smiled. "Oh, it was no problem." She assured. "I just felt that if I didn't deal with them, those sisters of yours would have gave them a fate worse than death."
Bubbles went into a fit of laughter at the truth that was just spoken. It was true, if either one of her sisters had caught those ruffians before June, she would have been worried for their health and mental stability. After she stopped laughing, Bubble's eyes landed on something interesting.
"Hey June?" She asked.
"Hmm?"
"Why are you carrying a trash bag?" Bubbles inquired.
Long Residence
7:45AM
He silently chuckled as he watched the girl rush out her house, forgetting to drop off the trash, and taking it with her. He stretched his hands in the air and grabbed a random shirt with his school's mascot on it. Their mascot was Mickey Mouse. When it was on his body, Jake grabbed his backpack and headed downstairs and out of the door, not bothering to eat breakfast seeing how his grandfather was at home.
The relationship between Jake and his family was a strained one as his grandfather had all these expectations, his little sister was the perfect little angel that could do no wrong, and his mother was barely at home. If Jake had eaten breakfast with them, it would have only ended in a shouting match between him and his father.
As Jake walked out the door, his eyes wandered to the house next to him. He was pretty sure the girl next door had forgotten all about her backpack in her rush to school. Smiling Jake locked the door to his house and went over. He rang the doorbell. After a moment it was opened by a small kid who gave him the once over.
"What do you want?" The kid asked.
"Oh your sister rushed out of the house and asked me to grab her backpack for her since she left it." Jake lied. He wasn't even sure if the kid was her little brother. He didn't even know the girl's name.
The kid narrowed his eyes, but was pushed out of the way by an elderly woman in a simple purple dress. In her hands, she held a red backpack with flowers all over it. "Here you are." She stated, handing it to him.
"Thank you." Jake stated, slinging the backpack on his left shoulder, and heading to Juniper's school.
Ah-Mah watched the boy's retreating form with concerned eyes. He had no idea what a commotion he was about to start.
7:59 AM
Cartoon High Cafeteria
Juniper hid her face from all the stares she was currently getting. At the moment her so called best friend Ophelia Ramirez was holding her sides in laughter as Juniper dropped the trash she brought from home in the trash bin. As she arrived back at their table, Ophelia had stopped laughing.
"How in the world did you mistake the trash for your backpack?!" She exclaimed, going back into a fit of laughter.
Juniper rolled her eyes. For the next few minutes of social time, Juniper sat with her head on the table as she listened to her friends talk about the upcoming battle of the bands.
The annual Jump City battle of the bands was a big deal at her school, seeing how the music program was really big here.
"Hey, June, are you and your brothers entering?" Roger asked.
Juniper sat up and smirked. "Of course we are!" She exclaimed. "Do you have any idea how big it will be if a band from CH won?" She asked.
It was true. CH was big on music, but none of the bands who entered the competition from their school ever made it to the semis. The title was always tooken by someone from Nickelodeon Prep. But this year, Juniper was determined to win.
As she and her friends continued their conversation, the once semi- quiet cafeteria came alive with noise. June and her friends ignored it until the whispers turned into shouts of hate and she felt like everyone was staring at her. Curious, June turned around and her eyes were shocked to meet with the deep black ones she came to secretly admire.
The boy looked around nervously as her fellow schoolmates called for his blood. Sensing that he should get out as soon as possible, he slipped a backpack off of his shoulder and held it out towards June.
Noticing it was her backpack that she left at home, June happily snatched it away and thanked him for sparing her the trouble of asking people for pencils and paper and being late with her homework for the rest of the day.
Feeling relieved the boy smiled and started to look around June.
Arching an eyebrow, June sat her backpack on the table. "What?" She asked.
"Where's the trash?" The boy teased, laughing when June's face went aflame and she slammed in her seat and dropped her head on the table.
Her friends, noticing what the boy was talking about, forgot what school he went to and joined him in teasing. It wasn't until a student spoke up did they remember.
"What the hell is the American Dragon doing here?!" Melissa, a longtime rival of June's exclaimed. Melissa set her eyes on Juniper. "Doesn't surprise me that you're fraternizing with the enemy Lee." She stated.
June's eyes widened and her eyebrows shot up in surprise. The American Dragon was a legend at WDA. He was known for his talent of fire breathing and using skateboards in his band's performances. Not only that, he was said to be a good student and very athletic seeing how he was his school's Skate board team captain. She had no idea she had been living next to him this whole time.
Seeing how Melissa's comment struck a nerve of fear in the poor guy, June was surprised to find her body standing up and defending her school's rival.
"F.Y.I Mi-liss-ah." June snapped. "He's just my neighbor and since I - can't believe I'm admitting this- mistook the trash for my backpack, my Ah-Mah asked him to drop it off on his way to school. I'm pretty sure that does not qualify in fraternizing with the enemy, just one of the rare days I did something unbelievably stupid. Now back off, or do you want to know what the bottom of a skateboard tastes like?"
Seeing Juniper lift her yellow and red striped skateboard, Melissa humphed and stormed out of the cafeteria.
While no one was watching, Juniper slipped next to Jake.
"You might wanna leave before you get slaughtered." She whispered.
Smirking Jake nodded. "Right." He whispered back. "See ya China Doll." He stated.
Juniper felt a blush creep up on her cheeks at the nickname but fought it off.
After her neighbor left, Juniper was immediately surrounded with people demanding to know what happened.
Excusing herself, June ran to the next class with a mob behind her, hoping to get through the day without incident.
Unknown to her, things weren't going to settle down anytime in the future.
For you see…
A cow had dared to jump over the moon.
