Back in a time when the rich looked down on the poor, can Jasmine a wealthy, proper, young lady look past Al's poorness and supposed filth to find the man that she's always dreamed of? Set in 1943, temptation of beautiful music and a life away from propriety, can Jasmine avoid the temptation? Or will she give in?
Chapter one: Getting ahead of myself.
"You don't have to do this!" I said as I turned around to look at him one last time before we got on (snuck on) the train that could take them away. To be together to a better place.
"You really think I'm going to let you do this?" Al smiled and kissed my forehead as the train slowly began to move again.
"You have no choice, I am leaving, I will not be married to some pompous rich guy I don't love." Jazz huffed.
"Trust me, I know I can't stop you, your to stubborn," He winked. "That's why I'm not letting you do this alone. I was planning on leaving anyways." He smiled. Al grabbed the edge of the train and hoisted himself up. When he was up he calmly looked down as her. "I don't want to be anywhere else, Jazz, other than in your arms. I will take care of you. Now," Al smiled crookedly, God she loved that smile. " do you trust me?"
I slowly slid my hand into his.
"Of course."
It was a beautiful moment, then Jeff arrived with the cops.
Wait! I'm getting ahead of myself, should I go back? My name is Jasmine, I am a calm, cool-minded individual. My father is an extremely wealthy business man. It was 1942, the world was heating up and swinging with the most beautiful thing I had ever heard, Jazz. Little did my father know, I loved it. It was amazing. But my father didn't want me listening to the, music that was "far to improper for young ladies such as yourself.".
Looking back I see why he was so frustrated. The music had a certain effect on me, the proper lady I was. I became rebellious. Which lead to meeting Al. And that's where my story begins, when I first heard jazz.
