Disclaimer: I do not own Buffy The Vampire Slayer or any of it's characters, laces, or situations. Bill Gordon, Fiona Markham, Erebus, Randarr and all other OC's are my own creation. I make no money off of all of this.
A/N1:: My idea for a Buffy spinoff set after BTVS ends. Faith and Bill will both be the main characters, but Faith is the titular character because she is canon. I've changed one or two things. Most notably, the spell Willow cast in Chosen only empowered the Potentials who were nearby. the bit about activating ALL the potentials in the world, just always kinda bugged me. I am viewing this kinda like a tv show, so, I have included "credits listing actors who, in my mind, would play the roles of the main characters and major guest stars. I have no actor in mind for Bill Gordon, so have just listed him as "Bill Gordon."
A/N2: I am giving this an M rating, as there will be definate sexual situations and language. Let me know if you think it deserves more of a T rating. Better safe and all.
A/N3: Acknowledgements for Christopher Golden whose BTVS novel Dark Congress planted the seed of Tara's return in my head, and to Eden studios and C/J Carella (sp?)whose roleplaying game Witchcraft with it's Bast quality helped me flesh the idea out.
Episode One: One Girl
Alternate Title: No One Like You
by DaBillmann
Prologue:
Life is a funny thing. One minute, you're alone. No sense of self. No sense of purpose. No life. No friends. No hope. No faith, in yourself or the world. You're just a lone man on a path to self destruction.
Then, it all changes. You meet someone who has been there and fought her way back. One girl who wants to help you find your own way back.
One girl in all the world._Bill Gordon.
Life's a funny thing. One day, you're in prison, trying to atone for the messed up stuff you did, the next you're escaping to save a friend, then, you're helping to save the world. And then, you meet someone whose life has been just as messed up as your own, and you see he needs help.
And maybe YOU can help him. Maybe you're the ONLY one who can. Maybe that's part of your mission, part of your atonement. And maybe, just maybe, even with more than a dozen Slayers out there, you're still...
One girl in all the world._Faith Lehane
Los Angeles California:
"Wha-HUH?" Faith Lehane asked, less than impressed with her own wit. She simply could not believe her ears.
"We want you to go and watch over the Cleveland Hellmouth, Faith," answered Rupert Giles. He gave her a look that said it was pretty obvious what they'd just said.
Faith looked at the two people sitting across from her. Things had been weird lately. With the closing of the Hellmouth, Buffy, Faith, the Scooby Gang, and the recently called new Slayers had traveled to Los Angeles, seeking aid from their old ally Angel. Angel had put them all up in a hotel, and he, Buffy and Giles had set about making plans for the groups next step. Faith was now in a hotel conference room with Buffy and Giles and they had just dropped the bombshell. She was amazed they were sending HER to the other Hellmouth.
"You sure you aint reading the wrong paper?" Faith asked. "I GET that you two will be heading up the reformation of the Watchers Council, as well as training the young Slayers, and who better? But really, I thought I'D be the wandering Slayer, and Kennedy, Willow and Xander'd be the ones at the Hellmouth."
"Faith," said Buffy, looking into her soulful brown eyes. "We need someone we can trust in we know can handle the job. Kennedy is the most experienced of the new Slayers, and she does have Willow, Xander, and Robin backing her up, but you've been doing this longer than she has. I won't lie to you. Six months ago, I'd probably never give you this job. But you proved yourself in the battle with The First. We NEED you in Cleveland." She smiled at the younger girl.
Faith ran her fingers through her chocolate brown hair, but smiled back at Buffy. The truth is, with the things she'd done in the past, there was no way she'd tell them "no". But, it felt really good to have Buffy on her side. And to know they were finally friends. "So, I take it I'll be going it alone?" she asked.
Giles shook his head. "No," he answered. "Our manpower IS spread pretty thin, but you've been assigned a Watcher. A woman named Fiona Markham."
Faith chuckled. "'Pretty thin" huh?" she said. "Does that mean you're scrapin the bottom with Fiona?"
"Not at all," said Giles. "I actually looked at it and assigned the person I felt would work best with you." He gave Faith a sad smile. "We all made mistakes the first time around Faith. I want to do right by you this time."
"Aw G-man,"said Faith. "None'a you are responsible for the fucked up things I did."
"Maybe not," said Buffy reaching out to clasp Faith's hand. Faith would have thought she'd recoil at that, but, she was grateful for the contact. "But, we could have done things better too." She changed to her "so there" tone. So, just accept that everybody was at fault."
Faith chuckled. It was hard to argue with Buffy when she used that tone. "Ok," she said. "Just one more question.
"When do I leave?"
