Sora grunted his eyes open, after he faded in front of his girlfriend and princess, Kairi due to misusing the Power of Waking at the Keyblade Graveyard. He sat up and looked at the rebuilding city. It was...

'Wait. Wasn't this city where i first landed with Kairi then us two saved Mobius?' But before he could walk, he was hit on the back on his neck. He immediatly fell to the ground with a loud thud. He faintly saw a metal blue leg. Then also he heard some words before he passed out again.

"I finally found you, Keyblade Hero."

Somewhere on Mobius

Sonic the Hedgehog has been spending years and years fighting the evil Dr. Eggman. Time and again the evil doctor attacks, Sonic strikes back, then relaxes until he shows up on the radar again. But after their last battle, with Sonic's side having two keyblade wielders... Eggman vanished... But his robot army did not!

Sonic was currently running in the peaceful fields of Mobius, once shattered by war, now restoring when he saw Badniks attacking a town.

"Wuh-oh. That doesn't look good." the blue hedgehog said. "Sounds like the locals are putting up a fight."

"I hope they don't mind me lending a hand!" Sonic exclaimed before dashing towards the attacked town.

Meanwhile

Out in a corridor of light, an auburn-haired girl with blue-violet eyes walked out of it. She analysed the fields before looking at Sonic dashing to somewhere she didn't know.

'That's Sonic. But why?' she thought but she looked at the town. 'Oh.'

At the town

"RUN! GET TO THE STORM BUNKER!" A wolf shouted to the civilians, holding a hammer. Soon after, his hammer got knocked out by one of the Badniks. He fell to the ground in fear, but Sonic came in at the last second.

"Hey! You hurt?" Sonic asked him. "N-mot really- WATCH OUT!" the wolf shouted, seeing a Motobug ready to attack Sonic, had it not been for a powerful Thunder spell.

"Sonic!" the hedgehog turned around and saw an auburn-haired girl with blue-violet ehes running towards him.

"Kairi! But where's Sora?"

"Can't explain right now." Kairi said. Sonic picked up the hammer. "You're the Sonic?!" the wolf said.

"The one and only. Here." Sonic held the hammer to him. "Try swinging it at a robot next time. I knew somebody who put it to good use." Sonic said, mentioning a certain pink hedgehog. The wolf picked the hammer.

Sonic grabbed Kairi's hand. "What are you going to do?" Kairi asked. Sonic smirked. "Since you aren't as fast as me, i guess i should bring you then."

"Maybe get in there, buddy. Nice chat! I need to save your town, bye!" Sonic ran away with Kairi on tow.

"O-okay!"

Running in a different part of the town, Sonic noticed the town's milita. "Sweet! the town's milita!" Sonic said to himself.

"Bots coming in from the north! You got a guy holding on his own there!" Sonic explained while pointing this thumb back.

"O-okay! We're on it!" one of the milita said, while Sonic and Kairi ran away.

Meanwhile, in another part of the town

"Hurry! They're closing in!" a female wolf exclaimed to a bird. "I'm trying! It's stuck!" the bird exclaimed. But then, Sonic and Kairi arrived at the right time and dispatched the Motobugs. Sonic winked at the female wolf while Kairi waved at the bird. They ran away to another section of the town.

"... All this terror might be worth it if i get to say that Sonic blinked at me!"

"I hope we survive long enough to get his autograph!"

Sonic and Kairi were running until he stopped to avoid a hammer hit. "Oh hey, another Hammerguy."

"I liked the earlier one better."

"Seriously, Sonic?" Kairi facepalmed.

"Where ya goin'?" Sonic did not mind Kairi's words and attacked him. Kairi shrugged and ran after him.

"C'mon, big guy! Swing batta-batta-batta-" When Sonic noticed, he was surrounded by four of them. Kairi was fighting off Heartless that appeared somehow.

"-swing? Yeah, okay. This one's on me."

The four hammers slammed into the ground, hopeful that it flattened him. However, a drain cover seeped out.

"'Hedgehog'. Noun. A burrowing animal." Sonic ran to Kairi and grabbed her. Then, he ran away with her.

"Whoa! You guys can really move when you want to." Sonic said, looking at the Egg Hammers. The two would be flattened if it was not for Tails.

"Tails!"

"Could you not risk your life for five minutes?"

"Sure, but where's the fun in that?" Kairi chuckles at Sonic's words. "You remind me of Sora." Kairi said at Sonic.

"Seriously though, thanks for the save, Tails."

"My pleasure!" Tails looks at Kairi and notices that Sora was not with her. "Kairi... Where's Sora?" Kairi sighs.

"That'll be for a later topic. Sorry."

"What's the situation of the town."

"A bunch of small-fry Badniks. Me and Kairi took care of most of them, and the town's militia can handle the rest."

"Those super Badniks are another story though." Kairi pointed out.

"Those are better left to the professionals!"

"Let's show 'em how it's done!"

After some hard combos, Tails and Sonic single-handedly defeated all those Super Badniks with Kairi's Stop spells helping in the mix.

"This would be a lot faster if we had Knuckles and Sora."

"Naah, we're doing fine!"

"Look!" Kairi exclaimed.

"The remaining robots are making a run for it!" Tails exclaimed too, pointing at the remaining Badniks.

"We can't risk them attacking ankther town. Tails, grab Kairi and cut them off! I'll handle the Super Badnik!" Tails and Kairi nodded and the earlier picked her and flied towards the gate while Sonic ran towards the Egg Hammer. Sonic easily managed to defeat it, then shouted at Tails and Kairi when he saw the remaining Badniks trying to escape to the gate just as when the latter two landed.

"They're almost out! Come on, Tails, Kairi! Hurry up!"

"Oh ye of little faith." Kairi yawns.

"Why must they make a haste?" Tails pulls the lever, closing the gate right on time, causing the Badniks to provoke a chain reaction.

"Well?" Tails lands with Kairi.

"Expertly done. Bonus points for dramatic timing." Kairi does a small curtsy.

"Thank you, thank you."

"Another day saved thanks to Sonic and Tails, with the help of Kairi." Sonic said while strechting his right arm. "These rouge robots are more like pests than anything."

"Normally i'd agree... But this was a much more coordinated attack. At least compared to anything we've seen lately."

"Really? I hadn't noticed." Tails shots a glare at him.

"Okay, fine, the Egg Hammers were new to the mix."

"That's not what i mean."

"But wait a sec- How come the Badniks are still around?" Kairi questioned. "I'll explain." Tails replied.

"After we beat Dr. Eggman and his forces, we broke the Eggman Empire's control over our world. The Badnik army remained, but not as a unified threat. Any attacks seemed like accidents rather than agression." Tails said and continued.

"But unified troop movements? Super Badniks deployed? Setting up ambushes? Something is making Eggman's army more cohesive." Sonic put a hand on his chin and lightly tapped the ground.

"Points taken. Do you think Eggman is back?" Sonic asked Tails, Kairi was about to say but the two-tailed fox cut her off.

"Without so much as an angry vlog? After that last defeat, he'd make sure we knew that he was back."

"In that case, i'll just keep doing what i've been doing. Those Badniks are a threat to everyone. Organized or not. I'll keep travelling around, smashing every one i see."

"But i could go with you, Sonic?" Kairi asked him who nodded. "Sure."

"But yeah, if they are getting orders from somewhere..."

"Then it'll make it more fun!"

"J-Just be careful, okay? If you get caught off-guard again... Get hurt..." Sonic puts a hand on Tails' shoulder.

"Hey sure, we've had some close calls, but we've come out of it in the end. Right?"

"Y-Yeah..."

"I'll be careful. I promise."

"... Okay. Thanks, Sonic."

"Oh yeah, Tails. Could you make like new boots for me that act like Sonic? I don't want to get carried around everytime by him. No offense, pal." Kairi questioned Tails.

"None taken." Sonic said.

"I can do that, but i'm going to need one of his quills." Sonic nods and pulls out one quill and gives it to Tails.

"But Tails, if you're so worried, you can always come with us."

"Yeah, just like old times and-" Tails looks at the damaged town, thoughts for a little then smirks. "There's too many Badnik gangs out there. I'm sure you two only will find them faster. I'll stay here and help the locals rebuild their town while i manufacture Kairi's new boots."

"You're a class act, buddy. We'll bash bots some other time."

"Deal!"

Sonic picks up Kairi in his arms and runs away to whatever he desires to. However, a spy Badnik was watching over them.

???

'So he has survived the first trial. Unsuprising. But Kairi in the mix will definetly have to change my plans.'

"Deploy a batallion to the next nearest town. They'll be drawn to it like a moth to a flame" A male metallic voice said.

"Make sure that word of Sonic's latest success and Kairi has arrived reach The Resistance. I want to crush BOTH hedgehogs and the Keyblade Hero's girlfriend in one strike."
