A/N: I got this idea while I was chilling in my room and I just HAD to post it up. It's pretty short and it's a one-shot. Enjoy!
Disclaimer: Unfortunately, I was not the person who invented the world of Harry Potter. That credit goes completely to the wonderful J.K. Rowling.
Harry felt himself waking up from his sleep. For some reason he didn't want to wake and he buried his face into the pillow, groaning. He couldn't go to back to sleep. Reluctantly, he opened his eyes. His hand slid out, searching for his glasses. His fingers grabbed the frames and he put them on, managing not to poke his eyes out.
He slowly sat up, and after a few seconds of confused blinking, he realised he was in his dormitory in Gryffindor Tower. Then everything came flooding back. The war, Voldemort, pain, Remus, Tonks, Fred, loss, Dumbledore, the Elder Wand, his parents, Sirius, Ginny, Ron, Hermione, cold, so tired... He rubbed his temples. It was too much to wake up to.
He heard a knock on the door. 'Come in!' he called, traces of sleep under toning his voice. As soon as he saw the flaming red hair, he knew who it was. His heart seemed to stop for a few seconds and then began beating ten times faster than usual.
Ginny walked in, gently closing the door behind her. Harry climbed out of his bed, thanking God that he decided to sleep in his clothes, as dirty as they were. He saw that Ginny's face was blotchy and wet. She sat next to him on the bed, sniffling. Ginny was usually so strong, so Harry knew that she was breaking apart. And why shouldn't she be? Fred had- no, he couldn't even think it, even though he'd seen it happen with his own eyes, even though he'd seen his body...
He wrapped his arms around her. She rested her head on his shoulder and wept. Harry himself began to cry silently, needing to release his churning emotions somehow. He couldn't believe that so many people he had known, so many people that he loved, had...
Ginny pulled away, furiously rubbing her eyes. Harry gently pulled her hands away from her face, wiping the tears from her cheeks. Ginny looked at him, her brown eyes full of pain.
'Does it ever go away?' she asked suddenly, her voice trembling. He didn't have to ask her what she meant.
He shook his head. 'No. The pain never goes away.'
'I didn't think so,' she said quietly. She fell back on the bed. He lay down beside her and wrapped his arms around her again. She laid her head on his shoulder. And even through their grief, Harry felt a weak swooping sensation in the region of his stomach.
Ginny looked at him, moving her head to the pillow. He turned on his side so he could see her properly.
'Listen,' she began, 'I know this is really insensitive but I need to know...'
'Anything, Gin,' he said, calling her by the nickname he'd had called her so long ago, when they were still together.
'Since we're both...okay...and Voldemort's gone and everything...'
'Yeah?'
'Can we get back together?' she said softly, the words rushing out of her mouth.
Harry gazed at her for several moments and then he did what he had wanted to do so badly. He kissed her.
They stopped after a few moments, smiling a little.
'I'll take that as a yes,' Ginny whispered and she burrowed her face into his chest. He embraced her and closed his eyes. The blanket floated by itself to fall on top of them. They fell asleep together, a couple once more.
Hope it's okay. Please review! Thanks for reading!
