She's Ours

"What did they say?"

His voice is low, but the affection in it is shining through. Gentleness, as much as he could produce anyway, radiates from him as he sits beside his distraught wife on the couch.

Molly takes a deep breath, trying her best not to cry or break down lest it aggravate her husband. She's always like this. When she's sad, she shares it with him, like he shares his sorrows with her, but she never wants to be dramatic.

But she can never deny. There is no place she'd rather cry in than in his arms.

"It's n-not going to happen."

A heart breaks beside her, and she loves him even more for that, even through this tragedy. They both want the same thing, no matter how he used to claim that he doesn't. He told her the moment he changed his mind; he told her he wanted something that they made, that's part him and part her and a whole new person at the same time. A whole new person they could love and raise and care for, a blessing they could call their own.

She felt the same way.

But now, the dream is dead, and they mourn in each other's embrace.

A year ago, she thought she'd never have this feeling.

A year ago, he thought he'd never see this come to fruition.

But of course, good things come to those who wait.

Thirteen months, tons of paperwork, several trips in and out of London, a bit of help from the dear brother and millions of prayers later, they're finally holding their little bundle of joy.

No, she's not part Sherlock Holmes. No, she's not part Molly Hooper.

But she's a whole new person they could love and raise and care for, a blessing they could call their own.

And when it comes down to it, that's what really counts.

Note: Inspired by the Bings' quest to have a child. It seems that Friends is quite the useful tool from where one could get some prompts or plot bunnies.
