(Fade into A DARK ALLEY. The only light is from a LAMPPOST on the outside of the alley. The light flickers. CUT TO:A milk chocolate male;EDI, and a creamy white female;ELLA. Ella opens her mouth to speak. We focus on Ella.)
(ELLA)
(Shaky breath)
Your skin is light brown, and sweaty. You always eat and drink everything. You always hide from the sunlight. Your eyes show lust. And sometimes you speak like-like you're from the hood. How old are you?
CUT TO:Edi.
(EDI)
Twenty-one.
(ELLA)
(Looks around and takes a deep breath)
How long have you been twenty-one?
(EDI)
(Reluctantly)
Three months.
(ELLA)
I know what you are.
(EDI)
Say it. Out loud.
(Angry) Say it!
(ELLA)
Gangster.
(EDI)
Are you afraid?
(ELLA)
(Turns around to look and Edi)
Kind of.
(SMASH TO:A buff African-American male; E.T., who is glaring at Edi.)
(E.T.)
Yo Edi, my man. This Is wrong. She ain't one of us!
(CUT TO:Edi, who glares back.)
(SMASH TO:Ella's bedroom:NIGHT. Ella and Edi are close together, almost kissing. The LIGHT behind Ella is bothering Edi.)
(Edi)
(Seductively)
Now, I just wanna try one thing.
(Edi closes the distance and kisses Ella but stops short.)
Damn light.
(Pulls out a GUN.)
(ELLA)
What are you doing with a gun?
(EDI)
Shh. Don't move.
(BAM! Black screen.)
(We can hear a steady BEEPING of a HEARTMONITOR in the background. CUT TO:Edi in front of Ella, who's on a hospital bed with a shot wound in the right shoulder.)
(EDI)
I'll do whatever it takes to make you safe again.
