This is the revised version of Chapter 1. I've decided on some additional changes to the story, that you'll see in the coming chapters. The word count will take quite a tank for this first chapter, but the second chapter will be around the normal update amount. I'll also be removing the two polls and rewriting chapter two to fit with this.

If you're a fan of this story, I highly recommend you read my other story, Catastrophe Dragon. It has a more serious tone and has a better writing style in my opinion. That being said, this story is now officially off hiatus as I will be working on the two in conjunction. This will be the story where I try new things as a writer, and it will be lighter and funnier in tone. Catastrophe Dragon will still have its laughs and happy moments but overall, it will be much heavier.

Enjoy.

…'Who am I?'...

My thoughts faded in and out, my vision pitch black. I tried to move my head down only to find out that I, to my bewilderment, have no body. Oddly enough, I felt no sense of panic, only confusion. After an indeterminable amount of time, a booming voice reverberated through the emptiness:

"Hello, Dylan."

My sense of confusion only grew at this being appearing. It raised more questions than it answered. When I went to speak, my words had the same effect, but not the same volume.

"Who are you? I'm assuming you're a god of some sort and I'm in the afterlife. Is Dylan my name?"

"Oh dear. You must've forgotten. Well, your name is Dylan Walker. And yes, I am a god, the God in fact. Currently, we're in the gap between different universes, the dimensional gap."

"Why am I here? Shouldn't I be in the world I came from?"

"Well, you are supposed to be in the judgment process currently in your universe, but I've exempted you from that process. I'll restore your memories now, seems like it was a glitch with moving you here."

My brain suddenly became overloaded as I relived all of the memories of my life. I remembered I was 17, how I died, who my parents were, and where I came from. God continued as if nothing had happened.

"Anyway, the preachers in your world are quite misleading with their teachings. In truth, I would never punish my most treasured creations to permanent torture. If they choose to follow my principles, I send them to Heaven with the option of reincarnation, and the rest are reincarnated to have another chance. Normally, I don't give those who weren't sent to Heaven a choice on what universe they will be reincarnated in, but you're an exception. I've been watching you since you were born, as I do with all of my children, and you have been very interesting."

As God continued, my confusion changed to excitement. The creator of all beings, and apparently of the multiverse, thought I was interesting?

"You are an anomaly, a person born in the wrong universe, from the wrong parents, at the wrong time. You are very gifted, and those gifts could be used to benefit your race but you didn't get the chance to use them."

"So, I'm going to be giving you a chance to transfer with your memories to the world of Highschool DxD, where you'll fit in much better. Of course, if you don't want to do it, then you can just be put in and reincarnated without your memories in your previous world. Up to you."

My brain was overloaded with happiness at what God had said. Turns out he wasn't so bad after all. Of course, there was only one response to being given all you ever wanted.

"Of course, I'd love to," I answered excitedly.

"Good! Now, what race gender do you want to be? Your options for your species are Dragon, Human, Devil, Fallen Angel, and Angel. Your gender options are male and female."

"Choose carefully, this is the only circumstance that you'll get to decide," God added on.

"A male dragon, of course," I answered immediately, without hesitation.

"Good choice! I'll load your mind with your background of how you came to be, and your dragon name as well. You'll have more draconic instincts, but I modified your human form to be essentially your dream body, and you'll be able to fully act like a human in it. You also know all human languages. That's all. Have fun!"

FHWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

Above a scorched wasteland that had previously sat undisturbed, there was a blinding flash of light. After a few seconds, the light had dissipated enough to see what it was hiding- the rapidly spinning form of a young man, looking to be in his late teens. Moments after, the teenager fell to the ground awkwardly, his jet-black hair covering his eyes. After he recovered consciousness, his amethyst eyes opened, taking in his surroundings. He seemed bewildered at his change in environment, but something excited him and he began to exude power.

Unnamed Location, Earth

As I held my breath, I began to feel an unfamiliar burning in my stomach, moving up to my throat and eventually my mouth. The burning kept on getting hotter and hotter, getting to the point where it felt like a fire was raging inside my mouth. Turns out, there was.

I gathered whatever was in my mouth and spit, trying to clean it out. However, my eyes grew in awe due to the thing that I spit out. It was a 2-foot violet fireball, and I had just put it in my personal space. As a dragon I'm immune to fire though, right?

Wrong. As I flew into the air, and I tried to blink out the flash that had taken my vision away, I thought about what had just happened.

Turns out, fireballs explode and are essentially a shrapnel grenade, Molotov, and flashbang on steroids. While I didn't burn, I definitely felt it.

When I had finally regained my vision, all I saw the blue sky. It was a clear day, with some clouds in the distance. Then, I realized that I was falling, fast.

I smiled like a child who had just gotten a new toy.

I imagined myself morphing into a gigantic western dragon, and that's precisely what I did. It was a bit disorientating at first, but I figured out how to flap my wings before I made a hole in the Earth's crust.

I decided to glide down back to where the crater I came from was, setting down with a satisfying dust cloud.

This would be more fun than I thought.

After messing around with my powers a bit, I decided that I'd had enough fun and I might as well see what time I'm in and if I can get some food. Fire breathing is tiring, unsurprisingly.

I had also found out how to mold objects out of my imagination, apparently, I was powerful enough to do that. Morphing back into my human form, I decided to pick my go-to outfit of blue jeans, a white t-shirt, grey skater shoes, and a black hoodie. This should make me not stand out, at least in America. Japan might be a different story though.

Speaking of, I think that the best place to find out where I am in canon would be to go to Kuoh. If I was in canon time-wise, then that's the place I'll be able to affect things the most. I should figure out how to teleport or at least fly in this form as well.

Closing my eyes in concentration, I imagined myself popping out of existence and appearing in the bottom of a crater about 50 feet behind me.

*POP*

Turns out instant transmission is easier than I thought.

Downsides of this method are the noise it makes for some reason and the disorientating feeling that it left me. For a few seconds afterward, the world was spinning and I nearly vomited, but hopefully, that was a first time thing.

Now, it was time for the big jump. Wherever I was to Tokyo.

Closing my eyes, I imagined myself appearing on a sidewalk of a large unnamed intersection of Tokyo.

Tokyo, Japan

*POP*

That was a lot better.

Appearing next to a skyscraper, I dusted myself off as the stream of businessmen and businesswoman continued unabated around me. Now, I just needed to find a map.

I could just imagine myself teleporting to Kuoh Academy, but I'm not too sure that would work. I don't want to risk teleporting myself to what my mind knows as a fictional location, and I haven't even seen that much of it.

Looking around, I decided to get on the move now rather than later. I decided to just wander around the city center, looking for a train station or a tourist shop.

A few minutes into my search, I found what looked like a train station. It had a pretty standard appearance, with clean and polished tiles on either side of the tracks. On the side, stands were selling Bentos or giving general information about the area, which is precisely what I needed. Luckily, I didn't need a ticket to get a map, which was on the outside.

After grabbing a map of Japan from a stand and saying thank you to the clerk, I sat down on a nearby bench facing the street. Opening the pamphlet, I looked for a couple of minutes scouring for Kuoh, as the population is quite small. Eventually, I did find it, with it being a couple hours drive north-east of Tokyo.

I combined it's supposed location with my image of the Kuoh Academy gates from the anime and hoped for the best.

Kuoh, Japan

*POP*

Appearing in front of a place you've only ever seen drawn in 2d can be surreal, but appearing next to the whole ORC(Occult Research Club) walking out of the school gates makes you just question your reality.

However, there were two things that I didn't have: time to ask if I was hallucinating and money. Both of which I desperately needed.

The ORC had their original members from the beginning of the show, with Kiba, Rias, Akeno, and Koneko all making their appearance. I could assume that Gasper was still locked up in his room at this point so at least canon hadn't gotten past Kokabiel yet.

Unsurprisingly, the devils took up defensive stances, moving to protect their king.

Hmmm...

I could go with intimidation, or I could explain myself...

On one hand, intimidation is badass, but on the other, I really do not want to make a bad impression on this group. So, I went with the option that would get me the most girls.

I raised my hands above my head and decided to start a conversation.

"Sup?", adding in a weak smile.

Rias looked perplexed at my sudden actions, but the others kept their stern expressions. In response to my statement, she began her interrogation.

"What are you doing here?"

"Would you believe me if I said I'm trying to apply for entrance into Kuoh Academy?"

"That doesn't explain how or why you'd teleport here with no trace of a magic circle."

"It's just my way of getting around. As I said, I'm here to apply for entrance into Kuoh Academy."

Rias rolled her eyes at my insistence, nonetheless, she continued.

"Well, if you're so interested in getting into Kuoh, then you should have no problem with us escorting you to the Student Council President's office where you can take the entrance exam."

I smiled, lowering my arms and putting them into my pockets.

"Lead the way."

Next chapter will be up in the next week or so. I'll be alternating between this story and Catastrophe Dragon every chapter and unless I'm really motivated to write one story or the other it'll take a week or so to update. If I am motivated, then I'll post as many chapters as I have motivation for.

Let me know if you like the new style of the story, I can also change the perspective if you guys don't like first-person, and I haven't practiced with it a whole lot either. Like I said, I'll be removing chapter 2 and the other chapters after the release of this one.

Anyways, leave a review, follow, and favorite!
