Valentine's Day was coming up. Natsuki Kuga and Shizuru Fujino had recently celebrated Valentine's Day, but they did it in November. The reason for this is that Shizuru loved Natsuki too much to wait. Natsuki thought it was weird at first, but she went along with it. Valentine's Day was only a few weeks away, but Shizuru felt like she couldn't wait.
One night Natsuki and Shizuru were going for a walk around the city. Natsuki looked at the sky and admire its dark atmosphere. It had a mysterious, gothic quality that she couldn't get enough of. She looked up at it and said, "Powerful eloquence, true beauty."
Shizuru replied, "Thank you darling."
Natsuki sounded a little embarrassed while saying, "I'm afraid that I was saying that to the sky."
Shizuru jokingly replied, "I wasn't expecting the sky to be my competition for your affection."
Natsuki and Shizuru started holding hands with each other. Natsuki said, "Valentine's Day is coming up. However, since we already celebrated it, I guess that means that we don't have to celebrate it again."
Shizuru passionately replied, "We have to celebrate it. It's one of my favorite holidays, because it gives me an excuse to celebrate how much you mean to me."
Natsuki blushed and said, "Okay then. We'll celebrate Valentine's Day."
Shizuru had an excited look on her face while asking, "When is it coming up?"
Natsuki answered, "In two weeks."
Shizuru replied, "I'm afraid that's too long to wait."
Natsuki said, "Shizuru, come on. You need some will power."
Shizuru replied, "My will power has never been as strong as my heart and no part of my heart is stronger than my love for you."
Natsuki blushed again and said, "You need to stop being so cute. You know that I don't like having a blushing face."
Shizuru replied, "If you can't stop yourself from blushing, maybe it's because your heart outweighs your willpower too." Natsuki put her hand over her face to cover up a third blush.
The next day Natsuki woke up and looked forward to an easy day. She had been dealing with a lot of villains and had to save the city a bunch of times. She deserved a break and was hoping that she was going to get one. However, her cellphone rang. She picked it up and saw that Shizuru was the one calling her. She answered, "Hello?"
Shizuru said, "Hi sweetheart. I have an idea."
Natsuki asked, "What is it?"
Shizuru answered, "We should celebrate Valentine's Day early."
Natsuki rolled her eyes and said, "No offense, but we're so close to the real Valentine's Day. I don't see any need to celebrate it early."
Shizuru shyly replied, "There is one reason."
Natsuki asked, "What is it?"
Shizuru answered, "I love you too much to wait."
Natsuki would be lying if she claimed to not enjoy celebrating Valentine's Day with Shizuru. Also, with all the chaotic crimes that Natsuki had to foil, she felt like doing something more comforting and pleasant. She said, "Okay then." She could hear the sound of Shizuru doing a victory dance. Natsuki asked, "When are we going to celebrate Valentine's Day?"
Shizuru answered, "Tomorrow night."
Natsuki replied, "Okay then."
Shizuru said, "I'm so excited for tomorrow night."
Natsuki replied, "I'm pretty excited for it too. I love you."
Shizuru excitedly screamed, "I love you too!"
Natsuki walked out of her bedroom and went to the living room. She faced her parents and said, "I need to go shopping."
Natsuki's dad accidentally threw his newspaper into the toaster and replied, "No you don't. Shopping's a bad thing to do. It makes you waste money."
Natsuki's mom asked, "What do you need to buy?"
Natsuki replied, "Valentine's Day stuff. Shizuru is so lovey dovey that she convinced me to celebrate it early again."
The mom asked, "Why didn't you talk her out of it?"
Natsuki blushed and said, "I don't know."
The mom replied, "Maybe you're lovey dovey too."
Natsuki folded her arms and stubbornly said, "No I'm not. I'm a rough, edgy action hero." Both of Natsuki's parents laughed. Natsuki reluctantly admitted, "I have become a lot softer, because of Shizuru. I don't know if that's a good thing."
The mom replied, "Being in a better mood and appreciating life more sounds good to me."
Natsuki said, "Thank you and I think you're right. I better get going."
The dad responded, "Don't buy anything too fancy or expensive." He heard a ding sound coming from the toaster. He grabbed the newspaper out of the toaster and started chewing on it.
Natsuki went to a nearby flower store. Yuuichi Tate saw her and followed her into the store. Natsuki went to the roses aisle. Yuuichi tripped and crash landed into the roses aisle. Dozens of rose bouquets got ripped up and crash landed on him. Natsuki turned around and saw him. She asked, "What do you mean?"
Yuuichi threw a bunch of flowers off of himself and answered, "I was curious about what you're up to."
Natsuki replied, "I'm going to buy some flowers for Shizuru."
Yuuichi responded, "Don't do that."
Natsuki sighed and asked, "Why not?"
Yuuichi said, "You should get roses for me, dump Shizuru, and start dating me."
Natsuki replied, "No offense, but I'm not a fan of any of those three ideas."
Yuuichi responded, "Come on. I'm one of the handsomest guys in the city."
Natsuki said, "Shizuru's the love of my life, so any attempt by you to charm me is noise I'm not going to listen to."
Yuuichi asked, "Why did you even start dating her?"
Natsuki said, "Because she makes me happier than anybody else."
Yuuichi replied, "I would make you super happy."
Natsuki said, "We're friends and you rarely make me happy. You're always putting me through your immature antics."
Yuuichi replied, "I may be a pathetic slob, but I think that I have what it takes to be a good boyfriend."
Natsuki patted Yuuichi on the shoulder and said, "Then I hope you find the girl of your dreams. Excuse me." She grabbed a bouquet of roses and went to the checkout aisle.
One of the store employees walked by and saw that hundreds of roses were on the ground. The employee asked, "How the heck did this happen? Over a dozen bouquets got ruined. Whoever did this owes the store hundreds of dollars."
Yuuichi was pathetic, so he pointed to Natsuki and said, "It's her fault." Natsuki explained to the employee what happened. She was a lot more convincing, so Yuuichi had to pay for the flowers he wrecked.
Natsuki drove to the candy store to get Shizuru some chocolate. Yuuichi drove by and saw Natsuki's car. He was a desperate fool, so he rushed out of his car and went to the chocolate store. He jumped around the store and crashed into several boxes of candy. He and the boxes of candy landed on the ground. A lot of the candy fell out of the boxes and started getting scattered across the floor. Customers and employees started tripping over the candy.
Natsuki looked at Yuuichi and said, "You need to stop trying to impress me. Love isn't something you can force and it's certainly not something that you can gain by doing slapstick antics. Love comes from a special and hard to explain, but incredibly passionate part of your part. Please don't forget that."
Yuuichi thought about it and realized that he had been acting like a fool. He sighed and replied, "Good points." Natsuki bought a box of chocolates for Shizuru. Yuuichi had to pay for the candy he ruined.
The next afternoon Natsuki got ready for her early Valentine's Day night. She got changed into a fancy blue dress and got on red lipstick. She went into the living room and asked, "How do I look?"
Natsuki's mom answered, "Very nice."
Natsuki's dad put his chewed up newspaper down and said, "That outfit looks too fancy. I think you've been spending too much money."
Natsuki replied, "I only bought a few things for this Valentine's Day and it didn't cost too much. Yuuichi's the one who spent hundreds of dollars."
The dad said, "That punk needs to learn the value of spending money carefully."
Natsuki jokingly replied, "You better be his teacher about money."
The dad winked and responded, "Enriching idea." The dad walked out and started heading to Yuuichi's house.
Natsuki and Shizuru met up at a fancy restaurant. Shizuru was wearing a fancy orange dress. Natsuki blushed over how nice Shizuru looked. She felt embarrassed, but she saw that Shizuru was blushing too. Natsuki sat down and said, "Happy Valentine's Day."
Shizuru replied, "I'm so glad that you agreed to celebrate this day early."
Natsuki said, "Yeah, but it does make the future seem sadder."
Shizuru asked, "What do you mean?"
Natsuki explained, "On the actual Valentine's Day, all of the adorable couples will be celebrating, except for us."
Shizuru held Natsuki's hand and replied, "But that's what makes this special for us. We get to celebrate Valentine's Day on a day that nobody else is. This is our own personal day."
Natsuki responded, "I'm glad to hear that. I've never celebrated Valentine's Day with anybody else. I used to think that true love was a myth, but when I met you I realized that the rumors about true love were real."
Shizuru replied, "I always believed in true love, but I had never experienced it, until I met you." Natsuki and Shizuru kissed each other. Natsuki gave Shizuru the roses and chocolate. Shizuru gave Natsuki five batches of flowers and a necklace.
Shizuru blushed with happiness and said, "I have another silly idea that you should probably talk me out of."
Natsuki asked, "What is it?"
Shizuru said, "I was thinking that we could celebrate Valentine's Day again, on the actual day. I know that's only two weeks away, but I'd love to celebrate the day again."
Natsuki replied, "That's the most lovely idea I've heard in a long time. This lovey dovey stuff used to be embarrassing, but I started realizing that my heart couldn't ask for a better gift." Shizuru kissed Natsuki. The two young women were so happy. To them, any day they spent together felt like Valentine's Day, because every event they did together was an event of happiness worth celebrating.
