Try to follow me on this one, dear readers! All song lyrics are from "Come Home" by One Republic. They are in italics. There are many different points of view. In order: Rory, Lorelai, The Town Troubadour, Emily and Richard, Lorelai, Logan, Rory. I own NOTHING.

Hello world, I hope you're listening

Forgive me if I'm young

And speaking out of turn...

Rory Gilmore didn't know how her life had gotten so off-track. She realized it had started with her affair with Dean and it had downspiraled from there.

There's someone I've been missing

I think that they could be the better half of me

She missed her mom terribly, but it didn't feel right for her to ask to be welcomed back to Stars Hollow, either.

I'm in the wrong place trying to make it right

But I'm tired of justifying

Rory was sick and tired of the debutante life; of the DAR. She wasn't getting anywhere with it.

So I say to you,

Come home, come home

I've been waiting for you for so long, for so long.

And right now there's a war between the vanities

And all I see is you and me

The fight for you is all I've ever known

Come home

Lorelai missed Rory as much as her daughter missed her. She wished that she could race to her parents' house and scoop Rory up and bring her back where she belonged, but Rory was an adult now. She couldn't be stopped from wherever she wanted to take her life.

I get lost in the beauty

Of everything I see

The world ain't half as bad as they paint it to be

The town troubadour saw life as something to be embraced; experienced. He didn't understand how people could get so off-base with their lives.

If all the sons,

If all the daughters

Stopped to take it in

Well hopefully the hate subsides and the love can begin

Dean Forrester and Lindsay Lister had gotten their divorce. They were two nineteen year olds whose marriage had gone out the window with the rest of Dean's belongings when Lindsay had found Rory's letter. The troubadour had seen it, and it hurt him to see two of the town's bright young people hurting so badly; one by choice, and the other by extension.

It might start now

Well maybe I'm just dreaming out loud

Until then

Come home, come home

Cause I've been waiting for you for so long, for so long,

Right now there's a war between the vanities

But all I see is you and me

The fight for you is all I've ever known

So come home

Emily and Richard had been through a rough year. Their separation, reconciliation, recommittment, the ceremony, and life since then had been a lengthy and hard road to walk, especially with Lorelai and Rory fighting so badly and neither admitting that perhaps the other could be right, if only a little.

Everything I can't be is everything you should be

And that's why I need you here

Rory was everything her mother had never been able to be: a high school graduate, a traditional college student, and more.

Everything I can't be is everything you should be

And that's why I need you here

So hear this now

Come home, come home

I've been waiting for you for so long, for so long

Right now there's a war between the vanities

Lorelai knew that things weren't great between Rory and Logan, but she also knew that they belonged together. When Rory moved home, Lorelai counseled her about Logan.

But all I see is you and me

The fight for you is all I've ever known

Logan stood in his apartment. He knew that he had blown it with Rory and the bridesmaids fiasco. He just wanted Rory to come home.

So come home

Come home

He went to Stars Hollow to ask Rory's forgiveness, and she accepted. All was now right in the Gilmore's world.
