THE UN-LIVING DEAD
Chapter one: Warehouse horror
Fear grasped hold of Thomas Matthews, as he looked out of his second story window to the scene outside. The streets were filled with people screaming and running for their lives. But it wasn't that which was causing him fear. It was the things chasing them. They looked like corpses with their gnarled flesh. But they couldn't be could they. As Thomas stared out of the window he didn't notice the thing sneaking up behind him. At the last possible second he turned around and saw it. It was a man about 30 years old. He had a large gaping hole in his cheek and two of his fingers were missing on his left hand. Thomas ducked just in time as the man went for him.
The man got hold of Thomas by the neck and proceeds to try and bite him. Thomas looked into the face in horror thinking that it would be the last thing he would ever see. Thomas tried in vain to push the bastard off of him but he couldn't. The hold the beast had on his neck was tightening by the second. Thomas' eyes started to black over.
He punched out in desperation, but even he knew he couldn't possibly escape now. As his knees buckled under him he tried one last kick which seemed to hit on target as the man buckled over also.
Thomas pushed himself up, but as he did this the man in front of him reached out his hand and moved his head forward ready to bite. A hard kick to the head solved this and the corpse stopped moving. Thomas looked over the stars of the old warehouse and almost died of shock. Up the stairs more of those things were coming. He tried to count how many were there quickly. 1, 2 ...3, 4, 5 no maybe 6 of these things were coming for him wanting to lay their teeth into him.
Thomas slammed the door shut and locked it. He knew this wouldn't hold them out for long. Feverishly he looked around the room for something with which he could defend himself. All that he saw was a chair with a leg missing. It would have to do he thought to himself. The Beastly things outside were slamming on the door trying to gain entrance into the small room. Thomas stood there hoping the door would hold. "Rargh" a voice sounded from outside the door. "Shut up" Thomas screamed. This did not do anything except seem to enrage the beasts even more. As they slammed themselves against the door Thomas steadied the chair in his hand and took a quick glance out the window. More of the things were entering the warehouse from the door. At that moment a screw fell out of the door frame. The door was starting to weaken. He got into a position behind the desk of the office so that they would have to come round the sides of it instead of straight at him. If they were going to get him they were going to have to work for their meal.
A few more screws fell to the floor. All of a sudden the door gave way completely and they swarmed in. Two of the things entered the room. As the first one reached him Thomas whacked it as hard as he could with the chair. It fell back for a moment but then headed straight back for him. Another came round his side for him. There was no way he could defend himself from them both at the same time. From just outside the room he heard gunshots.
It seemed he wasn't the only one as the creatures turned around to see what the noise was. This gave Thomas all the time he needed. He swung the chair as hard as he could at one of them. The chair came down on its head with a loud thud. Thomas swung the chair so hard that it went flying across the room along with the creatures head. Seeing this the other turned around and began to shuffle towards Thomas. It stretched out its arms ready to kill him without hesitation. Thomas screamed as the thing closed in on him....
